I would normally give this type of railway station only a rating of 2 out of 5 due to the lack of facilities but on this occasion I'm going to give it a 3 out of 5 because of its nice feeling and the fact it has a old quirky red telephone box on one of the platforms!
There are two platforms here one serving trains heading towards Wigan and the other serving trains heading towards the Southport direction.
There is no obvious signs of any security here in terms of closed circuit television cameras.
There is no where for passengers to park their cars here.
Also if there are no digital display boards indicating when the next trains are likely to arrive.
Even so it does have a payment ticketing machine on one of the platforms which is good to see.
