Old station so not efficiently designed, meaning a lot of walking between platforms. All clean, and all lifts, etc work though, which is good.
The station staff are very friendly and helpful, particularly Brian, who has provided me with accessibility assistance a few times. He's a true gentleman - polite, friendly, helpful, a true credit to the station and the rail service.
Shame there aren't more people like him at London King's Cross, where staff support was poor - one customer services official told me the wrong platform from which to catch my train back to Retford, despite looking it up on his computer, so missed it. Accessibility support was non-existent in practice, despite being prearranged.

Thank you so much to the friendly and kind lady on the platform at Retford Station a few weeks ago who kept popping onto our carriage of the train to keep us updated (we were stationary due to a person sadly having been hit by a train further along the line). I was with my small boys (1yr and 3yrs) and she could not have been more helpful in making sure we were comfortable during the long delay, even though she worked at the station and not on our train. Thank you so very much - you made our day so much more pleasant! X

My experience at Retford was good personally. The station building dating back to the 19th Century is still in good condition and has a nice cafe for you to chill in. The platforms are quite easy to navigate and quite a nice place to trainspot because trains not stopping pass at speed on the fast lines that you can see on platform 1. Also, one thing I will say is that the tube map on platform 1 as the time of writing this the Elizabeth Line on the central section is open. Overall, a pretty decent station with good service. :)

Regularly use Retford station to go to and from Lincoln. Usually travel on weekends and everything is usually fine. However today the costa coffee shop was closed for lunch during lunch time. I’m sorry but it’s a coffee shop, it shouldn’t be closed for lunch. So instead I decided to use the vending machine, paid £2.20 for some water and clearly the bottles were too large for the machine to accommodate as the water did not drop. No staff on the platform or at the ticket area so could not resolve the problem or get a drink for my journey. Really annoyed!!!

Thought I'd add some photos of the parking process as there's not much info on line. I didn't park at the station because I was worried about having to pay by an app (didn't know what app or how to use). So I parked at Victoria Street car park for £5. However if you do need to park at the station it doesn't look that hard, there is a machine so you don't need to do it on your phone, phew!

Retford Train Station platform 4 is a very isolated and unsafe place for lone female travellors. Needs sorting LNER!!!

Ticket staff friendly and helpful, explained it was cheaper to have a first class ticket than a second class on my particular journey. The toilet is in the waiting room but you need to ask a member of staff for a key. I also found the Costa staff friendly, polite and efficient dealing with the influx of travellers who wanted more than a liquid refreshment 10 - 15 minutes before the train arrived.
