Liked: Beautiful site in orchard with gorgeous views. Love that there are no cars where the tents are pitched. Couple of homemade swings for children to play on and it feels so safe to let children wander round the site because it’s nice and small and there are no cars driving round. Fire pits available and bags of wood sold. The pizza oven is also a great idea. We enjoyed a short walk on the nature trail and the children had fun by the river. New shower and toilet blocks and washing up sinks were kept immaculately clean. The owners were very friendly and full of useful information about the local area.

Liked: Just spent 3 fabulous days camping at this site. The site is easy to find and clearly marked, with not too much excessive signage. The camping site is awesome, you pitch amongst the beautiful fruit trees in an orchard, plenty of free choice in where to pitch, we pitched near a hammock and a picnic table which was lovely. The owners were very friendly and helpful with good local knowledge. The facilities were very clean and new, we made good use of the fire pit provided. Such a peaceful site with dark starry nights and birdsong filled days. Just right. Great location with walks from the campsite. Would definitely recommend.

Liked: Everything. Best site I've stayed at so far. Great pitches and field, with the pitches being separated by trees. Nice friendly couple who run the site. Clean modern facilities, 4 showers (50p), 4 toilets and pot wash area. Fridge freezer and charge point near the house.

Liked: This is the best UK campsite we have stayed at. If you’re looking for a simple, quiet, low key, family run campsite in a beautiful location but with proper toilets and hot showers, this is a must.
Pitching the tent in an orchard was lovely. There were all the facilities you needed, fridge, freezer, hot showers, clean toilets. We were also able to borrow a fire pit and buy some logs at a reasonable cost.
We will definitely go back.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike.

Liked: Liked Everything! Greeted on arrival and given some fantastic local knowledge. Nothing was too much trouble and the campsite was first class. Toilets and showers were very clean and well maintained. In fact the whole site is well kept. Fridges, freezers, water taps and electric charging points all free. Amazing orchard apple juice for sale. Fire pits provided and logs for sale on-site. Tree swings for the children and a lovely little nature trail close by which the site owners have lovingly sign posted all the way along. I’ll be back next summer, this one is a wonderful gem! Highly recommended.

Disliked: Absolutely nothing to dislike.

Liked: I stayed at Porthamel with my two daughters, aged 12 and 5 and we had the most amazing stay.
The site is absolutely gorgeous with pitches set amongst the apple trees giving some privacy but not cutting you off from other campers. There are tree swings and rope ladders for the kids to enjoy, I hardly saw my two while we were there.
Facilities were great, showers and toilets spotlessly clean throughout our stay.
We visited Glasbury for a swim and Hay on Wye for books and the castle. And a walk to The Warren for another swim in the Wye. We also walked the nature trail from the campsite which was perfect for little legs!
David, Miriam and Ethan were the perfect hosts. We had a disaster with our tent when we arrived but Ethan came to our rescue and saved the day! They were all so helpful and kind and it really was appreciated.
We loved it so much we stayed an extra night and can’t wait to visit again!

Disliked: Absolutely no complaints at all. Wouldn’t change a thing.

Liked: What an incredible site! Beautiful calm pitches amongst the apple trees in the orchard. The nature trail was so good, we went exploring twice in one day. Once along the old railway line and the other down along the river. In the space of 20 minutes, we saw 3 kingfishers, 5 red kites....up close, 2 woodpeckers and a big old dog fox. Not like many sites who say there's a nature trail and disappoint, this really is outstanding, don't miss out on this. Also, take advantage of the gorgeous dark skies for a spot of stargazing and meteor spotting.
We loved the chickens roaming free, popping by to say hello and help us eat our blueberries and the site was full of baby rabbits, who hopped through and stopped to munch on the windfall apples.
The facilities are first class, with plenty of drinking water accross the site. The fresh, organic apple juice made from the orchard apples isn't to be missed either, gorgeous!!
Super friendly site owners made our stay one to remember and we'll definitely be back.

Liked: Everything. We had booked two nights but decided enroute we weren’t ready to go home so called ahead and added one more night. I SO GLAD WE DID! The most beautiful campsite with incredible facilities. It was perfect for children! We camped the furthest point near the apple tree with climbing ropes attached and had all the kids running around making friends and enjoying the orchard.
The hosts were incredible and done daily checks to make sure everyone was ok. The cows were an experience haha!! The kids met the chicken who they named Mrs Cluckers…she was sweet and loved being petted. I honestly cannot wait to book this campsite again next year.

Disliked: Nothing at all
