Global Work and Travel UK's offer is designed to appeal to those feeling a little anxious about planning a trip to work abroad, They are therefore vulnerable to promises of peace of mind in planning their trip, their arrival and guarantees of job offers.
This is not our experience. It was a total waste of money.
We feel let down by this company and so did others who arrived in the Gold Coast at the same time. Our comments relate to our experience in Australia so we obviously can't vouch for what the service is like elsewhere. But this is their head office so you'd hope it was a shining example of what they do.
They deliver by the letter of their offer (only just) and not on the spirit.
The job offers were limited to hospitality - our daughter was only offered an interview for a job one week before she travelled. No peace of mind there. It turns out they only put candidates forward for one job at at time so no choice is offered to the traveler. By the time they arrive in the country they are in a desperate position so take whatever is offered. 3 out of the 6 travellers our daughter arrived with had not sorted a job before arriving. This one job at a time process, with interviews offered moments before departure, is certainly not the impression created in the sales material. When we asked why the only job interview our daughter was offered was as a chambermaid they said her cv had not peen accepted by organisations that met her first choice. They could not produce any evidence that they had put her cv forward to any other employer from their 'large network of partners.' They held onto our money for the flight for months with zero action. They claimed they couldn't book it until close to departure and then as the departure date came close, they changed their story and said they would only put her forward to employers if she had a flight booked in order to reassure employers that she was genuinely coming. By this time, flight dates were limited and prices had gone up. We feel very angry that although they listened to our complaints they refused to admit they'd failed us in offering the reassurance of things sorted in advance that their offer suggests. Look carefully at other reviews of this outfit as you'll see we are not alone. Save your £1,500 as literally all it bought was 4 nights in a downtown youth hostel. Oh and a 2 hour surf lesson and two tourist excursions. They should be ashamed. And I would encourage others to come forward to warn people off. We don't normally complain online about anything but we feel they are taking advantage.
Pros:
- I have felt very well supported to plan my trip.
- Gworld has all your documents organised well.
- I was supported with my resume as it needed some extra work!
Cons:
- limited training opportunities. So you do have to be open minded with areas that may not necessary be your first choice.
- It is very costly to book on to an internship or working holiday & as a young professional I have had to use / save some money up to be able to afford it. You also need some money saved up for your arrival especially if your trip does not include accommodation.
- You do enquire extra prices along the way that are not included aswell e.g. flights, police record, visa fee. I think the ACRO and visa fee should perhaps be included.
