St Edmund Hall

St Edmund Hall is one of the smaller colleges in Oxford. Although it is one of the oldest institutions of the University of Oxford, it only officially become a college around 50 years ago.

A highlight of the college is the food. It is the best food that I came across at Oxford college, maybe only rivalled by Nuffield College.

Also notable is the college library, which is housed within one of the oldest remaining churches in Oxford.

A joyous place. Why people insist in comparing it to Keble I have no idea. One a gothic neo-masterpiece, the other an example of late middle-ages splendour. If you cannot see the beauty in both, then perhaps Dubai is more to your liking. As for the person looking for a hall full of teddy bears, it’s in the second quad, just after the entrance to Wonderland.

This place is top drawer, the bees knees and all of that.
It is small because it is crazy old. The basement of the library is a crypt that is over 1000 years old. Sure it is strange to study in an old church and you have to walk through the grave yard to get there. Still, this college loves sports, academics and social. A great place to be.

Beautiful old college buildings, lovely people

Great hospitality, even though breakfast was in the wrong place and we got locked in a room! Very accessible by bus from Heathrow.

A modest college compared to the bigger ones. Nevertheless, it carries great spirit; pride itself in huge and vibrant community; rich and enthusiastic in supporting students. My year here has been a privilege and may you enjoy it too!
