From the moment we first met Simon in his workshop his expertise, love for the trade, wealth of experience, attention to detail and customer-focused attitude had been obvious. He spent time listening to our `agenda` then added his own ideas and suggestions in a very helpful and constructive manner; he presented a vast array of material samples with his comments on their suitability for our expectations and arranged for these to be also delivered to our address to assist us with making an informed choice.
He offered to come to our house to see the furniture for himself (we were looking to have the cushions on a 3-piece Scandinavian suite re-done with new foam and covers), to double check the measurements and then visited again with a foam cut to size to make sure we were satisfied with its density and fit and to make any adjustments before starting the actual work.
He kept us updated on progress throughout and produced the complete pieces in a very reasonable time and the craftsmanship was top quality with additional improvements made free of charge and it was clear all along, how much pride he takes in his work and how good a team he has.
He was just as excited and pleased as we were with the new look of the suite and we are confident that the new cushions will stand up to another 10-15 years of everyday use with ease.

Amazing service. I needed two seat cushions to be replaced as they had gone flat. Within a day of going into the shop I had two high quality foam seat cushions and can now sit in comfort. We recently had two sofas re-upholstered, new curtains and a footstool made by Simon Houlding Upholstery. The experience from start to finish was superb. Simon and Ruth visited our home with books of fabric samples but, more importantly professionalism and expertise. Ruth’s experience in design helped us select fabrics and wall colours. The fabric for the curtains was completely outside of our comfort zone but with Ruth’s patient guidance we were persuaded that the material was an excellent choice with the fabric selected for the sofas. We were not disappointed! The footstool is nothing but fabulous it knits together the colour scheme and is a statement piece of furniture. Our living space has been completely transformed and we are delighted with the results. The workmanship and attention to detail provided by Simon and his team deserves the highest praise. simon's done a fantastic job of the 2 sets of curtains he made for me. a top notch professional service from beginning to end. him and ruth were very helpful and definitely wanted me to get value for money, offering fabric matches and alternatives to the expensive ones i had chosen. i will be a returning customer and whenever i need upholstery done i now know where to go, without question.
