Over six weeks ago I telephoned to explain we needed some replacement arm covers for a settee and ask if this was something they could do. They said yes, so we visited their workshop immediately. We chose the fabric and were told the company would be in touch to take measurements when the fabric arrived. We asked how long, roughly this would be and were told 2-3 weeks. Having not heard anything after five weeks, I telephoned on Monday afternoon. The 'phone was on answerphone, so I left a message asking them to let us know what was happening.

As we still had not heard back from them by yesterday afternoon (Friday) we emailed to cancel the order. This morning I received a reply apologising and stating: "We do try & fit small jobs in like yours along the way but just haven't had the time & even next week will be impossible."

Whilst we can understand if they are busy and have no time for small jobs like ours. What we cannot understand is: a) why they accepted the job in the first place, b) why they gave us the 2-3 week time frame, c) why they didn't warn us there could be a considerable delay and d) why they didn't bother to get in touch with us at any point to explain and not even bother to respond to our 'phone call.

This company came highly recommended, and whilst their workmanship may well be excellent, their communication practices need improvement.
