The Bookshop On the Heath Ltd

I was visiting my son who lives near nearby and decided to take a walk into the delightful Blackheath Common. On the way I checked out a few shops including this bookshop which I had not been into before. It was choc full of books, especially old books. As I was leaving I found a new book on the 'latest' shelves for a subject that I have been researching. What a find, I sought of randomly found a very useful book and bookshop.

Fantastically interesting and funny woman working and a really incredible collection. AND dog friendly!

Highly recommended. Apart from the pleasant interior and good selection of XIX century maps, the Bookshop allows you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of old Blackheath and lose your sense of time. I really enjoy visiting from time to time.

Oodles of atmosphere, reassuringly dusty and a virtual caricature of type with a conspicuous frontage overlooking the Heath.
The usual genres, some mild aberrations from the expected with the odd collectible, obscurity and offbeat for the hardcore bibliophile.
Realistic pricing, and retiring staff; encouragement enough to have a browse - you're bound to find something here.

Lovely, quaint bookstore for "pre-loved" books.. reminiscent of how you'd imagine bookstores were in years gone by. The one downside for me,was that they did not have any books on marketing or (the now in vogue) personal development.
Definitely worth a visit if you are a lover of books

What a lovely little shop! Loads of old and antique books of all genres and the staff is so friendly and helpful.
I’ll definitely come back!

More for the specialist book collector, but a good bargain section outside.
