The car was reasonably priced based on others on the market and was the most importantly the specification I was after with wide LCD and silver trim.
After speaking with Roy on the phone, I took plenty of confidence in the way he handled the sale and handled any questions about the car itself. Really struck me as a genuine trader who looks after his company and takes its reputation very seriously.
Upon agreeing a deal with Roy (including a 3rd party warranty), I travelled from Glasgow to Aylesbury via plane/train to pick up the car.
On arrival, the car was exactly as described and Roy was as helpful as ever on the day. The car did not come with a V5c but I was able to obtain this from the DVLA fairly swiftly afterwards.
Around 5,000mls after purchasing the car, it developed a fault as slipped into limp mode intermittently. I put it into my local garage and they began investigating. They identified a camshaft issue and suggested the entire cam and associated parts were replaced due to excessive wear. This was supposedly a known fault with the manufacturing of some cams where the metal breaks down prematurely.
As the car was under warranty, I contacted the 3rd Party company to cover the cost of the repair. The advised that this was 'Wear and Tear' and would not cover it. This was a massive blow as this repair was fairly extensive and parts had to come from MB Germany.
Concerned with the issue and impending bill, I called Roy to see what we could do. Roy had built up a very good relationship with the Warranty Company and was able to explain the issue and how it was a manufacturing issue and not simply wear and tear.
The Warranty Company covered the majority of the repair and Roy then assisted with the remaining balance as a gesture of goodwill.
At no point did I feel like Roy was avoiding calls or messing around. What could have been quite a frustrating and difficult process was made much more comfortable by Roy's professional nature and his customer care.
I cannot recommend Roy enough due to the way he handled this situation. He did not have to help to the extent that he did and for that I am very grateful. If this was a private purchase or even a dealership with a less reputable name I feel that this would have been a totally different scenario.
We noticed a fault with the car within a couple of days, and to be fair to Roy he always answered his phone to talk it through with us, and he said if we had lived closer we could have brought it back and he would have fixed it for us. In the end after getting a estimate from a garage he offered some money to get it fixed, so we didn't loose anything when you take into consideration the cost of returning the car at such a distance. The car turned out to be brilliant, and overall an average to good experience buying the car (with reasonable after sale service).
