Rent Direct Car and Van Hire Cambridge

I rented a car for a day, they charged me for 2 days because it was an hour late because I was searching around Cambridge trying to get fuel during the Ukraine crisis and everywhere was out of petrol. If you don't fill it up you get charged a lot. Parked outside, put the electric handbrake on. The car infotainment system was still on but the engine was off. I didn't know how to switch it off. So I started the car to try switch it off again. I go in the shop, 15 minutes later I'm still waiting for the receptionist on the phone, I look out the window. The car starts rolling forward. I run out, try to catch it but it rolls into the garage in front. Scratching the bumper. I lose my £200 deposit and I receive a phone call and am charged another £230 for the damage plus I've already paid £50. So to rent the car for the day. All in all cost £500. I've just had a scratch repaired on my car at a body shop and it cost £130 for something much much worse. So I got ripped off for £500 from this company.

Perfect car rental from start to finish. Great service, I was informed by email every step of the way. The pick-up was stress free and the car controls fully explained. The car was nearly new, low mileage and valeted.
Returning the car was equally stress free and the price I paid for rental was really great value compared with competitors.
I wholeheartedly recommend Rent Direct and they will be the first I call in the future.

Be careful. I bought their excess reduction which reduced the excess for damages to £100 max. Got a 1cm stone chip on the windscreen and they charged me more than £300 for it. What they didn't explain when I bought it is that the excess reduction doesn't apply because they don't insure their windscreens and so basically you pay a useless excess reduction and full cost of repairs.

The WORST company iv ever delt with! If I could leave no stars at all I would have! DO NOT trust this company you will turn up for a booking to be told they don’t have the vehicle! Even though you’ve booked a day off work and made arrangements. The management is apauling! They are RUDE, arrogant and discriminative! Stay clear of this hire company don’t waste your money or time!!!

Very professional outfit!
The company, especially Danny was so helpful and professional. Have used other rental companies in the past. Even though they are good, here I was pleasantly surprised. Took the time to go through the policies and show me around the car. But more importantly, the car was of a good quality too.

Will be hiring from them again soon!

Can't praise Rent Direct highly enough. The service was first class - as was the rental car - and the price was extremely competitive. Caitlin was extremely helpful when I needed a car in a hurry, and Dan dealt efficiently with the return. All staff were polite, professional and friendly, and I have no hesitation in recommending Rent Direct should you require a hire vehicle.
