Mildmay Veterinary Hospital - Winchester

Beth was wonderful when Ernie told us it was time to go in September. He was nearly fourteen and has left a big gap but Beth treated him with dignity and he was still smiling whilst he slipped away. Thank you for not rushing us, we needed those last moments.

Special thanks to Amy and her colleagues at Mildmay vets after seeing our dog whilst we were on holiday in Hampshire. Excellent service and rapid return of blood results meant we could get our dog back on the medication she needed. Thank you.

We can’t thank everyone at Mildmay enough for saving our little Saffron. You never expect with a 9 month old kitten to receive a phone call telling you that it’s touch and go but even in the horror of that moment we never had any doubt that she was in the best possible place and that the vets were doing everything they could for her. Thankfully our story had a happy ending and Saffron is back at home. But to Nikki who admitted her, Richard, Beth and particularly Steph who looked after her that awful afternoon, and to all the wonderfully kind vet nurses who I know will have given her so many snuggles, and to the reception team who always found someone for me to speak to for an update, thank you from the bottom of our hearts - we couldn’t live without her and you made sure we didn’t have to. We have used Mildmay for many different pets since we have moved to Winchester and the vets have always been thoughtful and caring but this time they truly went above and beyond.

Sadly, I had to have my dog put to sleep at this facility but I cannot fault the staff at all. Kind, respectful and helpful in all regards. A special thanks to Carlos for his demeanour during a difficult time and a massive thank you to the rest of the team for all their efforts.

A very difficult decision made at the vet to put our beloved dog of 16 years to sleep. The vet who helped us was very attentive, considerate and professional. They helped make a difficult decision easier and not rushed.

The staff give good options over the phone when booking, they fit us in with short notice when we called again concerned about our cat.

Have seen a couple of different vets there and they’re all kind and knowledgeable, giving us reassurance and solid advice each time.

I would be very wary of using this vet going forward. We have had a particularly bad experience and know others in Winchester who have also had problems before moving on to another practice.
We have two dogs and a cat, recently we moved to another city. On telling them of our departure, Mildmay hit us with a large bill, despite being told when starting that their Healthy Pet Plan covered all check ups and monthly meds. This was not the case as it is more of a downpayment plan, when we were told to refer to Ts & Cs we pointed out that this would amount to misselling in other businesses. We also pointed out that their records were wrong regarding our pets' records of care and check ups (I still receive incorrect text reminders to this day), this was never referenced again, although there is an ongoing dispute regarding the final bill. Our cat also had a check up just prior to us leaving them. On arrival in our new home we discovered a large cyst, a local Bristol vet told us this was caused by a bite to the abdomen and had been missed by Mildmay despite our bringing up his pain and discomfort in recent days. Luckily a course of antibiotics from our new vet cleared this up .
I give them the one star as some of the vets as individuals are clearly, for the most part, capable and kind. The company itself, CVS, are pretty unscrupulous. Money is clearly the main motivator for the company as a whole.

I could not reccomemd the Village Bakery more? Karen, Carla and team have always a warm welcoming smile for all, and especially our furry babies! Just that would be a very good reason to visit!! But oh my dear the cakes menu is delicious too! And they keep reinventing and adding new entries!!
