The Vet Portsmouth

The care and compassion shown by the staff at The Vet Portsmouth is second to none. As the owner of a sickly cat they've welcomed him on a number of occasions on an emergency basis and always listened intently and examined thoroughly. To top it off, the staff are thoroughly nice people. Can't fault The Vet

Never seen on time and then when it’s you’re turn after waiting 30+ minutes , you’re rushed in and out ..
The senior vet couldn’t be bothered to even chat to me but instead got a colleague to.

The place needs to manage their time better and are clearly taking on more clients than they can handle , resulting in long waiting times and you lose that ‘personal touch’ ..
will consider changing vets.

Honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I sent my 6 month old kitten for her spaying and handed her over the the vet Claire.

She went over the procedure with me as I had only had male cats previously so a girl was new to me as well as going over all the extras if I wanted them. She’s insightful and very informative, not only was she the epitome of what you want and need from a vet, but she was supported by very kind and lovely nurses.

Evelyn came out quite drugged and when I got home I checked her scar, which was tiny and much smaller than I was expecting. I also learnt Claire’s method by going in from the side is less invasive and has quicker healing times, albeit possibly more complicated for the vet.

She went above and beyond for my cat and she is my favourite vet. She has such an amazing reputation with tropics too and was 100% worth the drive down from London!

Lovely staff and amazing vet specialising in reptiles. Claire Lomas went above and beyond to help my poorly bearded dragon. Always nice to get a free coffee while you wait also as they have a self service hot drinks machine available.

Avoid at any costs. Booked an appointment for vaccination of our puppy and asked for a specific type (and brand) of a vaccine. Were told by reception that this was available, but when the time for the appointment came they tried using a different vaccine. When we questioned the type they said that it was the same thing. Once the client asks for something, you can just say you don't have it. Now the vaccination cycle has to start from 0. Not impressed!

They give a price which is valid for a month. When I tried to book in the appointment it was delayed on their behalf. Then they could miraculously fit me in one day AFTER the quote expired and wouldn't honour it and tried to tell me the prices had changed and increased from £79, to £139!
Waited days for someone to call back to see if they would honour the quote and I eventually gave up waiting and have now booked into another local vet, with a quote of £80 and a booked appointment appointment. Totally unorganised and The vert has gone downhill. I've been registered here a few years now and they have seen and operated on 4 of my animals. I'm unsure if reception staff have changed or management but something has gone wrong and it is reflecting through the practice and the way in which clients are treated. All they seem interested in now is money, not the welfare of the animals. Such a shame but I wouldn't recommend using these at all anymore. With their price increases, they no longer compete with other affordable vets with a much better service.

I couldn't thank the staff enough my cat joey went missing in August from easy London, we can't believe he ended up in Portsmouth safe and unharmed, I'm so grateful that you looked after him whilst I trued to arrange travel, you guys r angels 😇 .
