Beautiful landscape and great trails around the reservoir and foundation's of old houses grime the 18th century, well recommend a walk here. Atm the car park is free as the meter is broken but not many spaces here!

Beautiful Reservoir reserve with an easy walk around the water and steeper more adventurous paths up to the Moors. Full of local history and remnants of the old village and quarry.

I've visited in the blazing heat of summer and watched the kestral hover, I've visited in the depth of winter when it's frozen and bleak.

The carpark isn't huge and can get full, it also shuts it's gates so always check what time closing is when you visit.

A must visit area all the walking you could want well signed. Best not to leave your vehicle in a lay-by on the main road and definitely not on the slip road into the information cafe. Find a place in the village. There is always opportunistic folks who know you will not be back for a while. So no valuables on view. Anywhere.

We love walking around this reservoir. The car park isn't huge, but it isn't usually overrun with people is you go around 10am. The bonus (for the last couple of years, at least) is that the payment machine is covered up, so it's free to take the kids out, which is fantastic! Buggy friendly path all the way round, with places to stop for food. Please don't take BBQs as they have ruined several of the benches already. Lots of dogs, which are largely off lead, so if you are scared of dogs, don't go.

This car park is for those walking round Calf Hey reservoir - just off the B6232, Grane Road. It runs between J5 M65 and Haslingden and is 5 miles of beautiful moorland. The car park does fill very quickly, though and an alternative is to park at Clough Head Information Centre and Cafe. This is about 300yds further along Grane Road towards Blackburn. From here it's about a 10min walk back down through the woods. And you get a good cuppa at the end of your walk! Plus good food if you wish. The bird feeding stations at both Clough Head and Calf Hey are a great attraction for both birds and visitors alike and are filled and monitored daily by volunteers. There are toilets st Clough Head.

Carpark - FREE, closes around 5:30 though. Do not recommend if it's icy/snowing as we have got car stuck there before (as car parking spaces are on a slope). Not room for many cars so definitely go in the week or early at the weekends/Bank Hols! Unless you don't mind parking on the main road at the top.

Walk - Has a few benches scattered about and a picnic area with two benches (one, someone has burnt with a BBQ) 🙃, some old ruins of buildings with info boards about the history.
Can walk around the first and last reservoir, and past the large one in the middle. To do a loop, we did this and did about 6.4 mile.
