Great place for family visit, lots of actives for kids to enjoy. Spend about 5 hours can't finished all. Thinking about getting the Special events season tickets and come back whenever they open.

Place only open for events, before visit better check their open days.

Love this place. Loads to look at and learn about. There are two shows during the day by professor nitrogen.. which are well worth watching with the kids...
Snack shop is a bit pricey so I would advise a picnic if in a budget, there's loads of places to sit and eat in the sun.
Play area for children that aren't worn out!!! And the chance to make your own rocket and air launch it.
All in all a really good day out. Entrance price is a bit high £10+ for adults, I can't remember. If there was a family deal but for the price of the cinema this is much more fun.
You get the full ***** 5 stars.

An amazing place during the day as well as the evening. I went here with a wonderful group called Spectral Hunters for a paranormal investigation. We had a great night full of evidence. Can't wait to visit here again and hopefully with this team

Really entertaining family friendly day, with interactive learning, tractor and two different train rides, outdoor playground, interactive kids show (rockets, explosions), ammunition and rocket displays. Believe it is only open on Sundays at the moment, its really worth planning a trip! Hidden gem. Good outdoor space for a picnic on site too, clean toilets and nice cafe area with snacks and hot drinks

Had a great day out with the kids, who really enjoyed themselves. Tractor rides with a super knowledgeable guide, rocket making (one that you then let off high into the air- see photo), science shows with the very entertaining Professor Nitrate, and an impressive collection in the armoury were certainly the highlights. Staff are friendly and passionate about local history. Nice cafe and toilets were clean. Booking tickets was easy too. Would recommend to anyone who wants to see where gunpowder for the battle of Waterloo was made.

Beautiful site, surrounded by trees, canals, streams, with deer and ducks. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable volunteers. Really enjoyed the tractor and train rides. Professor Nitrate was hilarious yet educational. The cafe is spacious, the coffee was good. The toilets are clean. The exhibitions are varied and interactive.
