Little tourist town surrounded by nature beauty. A number of eating out places as available, and some offer vegan meals too. Must visit.

Ngl, I didn’t go to the exact visitor centre, but a 1 minute drive and you will find the most BEAUTIFUL view. Of course, you’ve got to climb a good 20 minutes to reach the top of the mountain but the end result is WAY WORTH IT!!

Lovely place. I have never explored this part of the country. Visitors centre was filled with interesting information and guides of things to do. Everything around there seems to close at 5 - 6pm including the car park, so check timings before you head off on a walk. It is a beautiful place, and i had a thoroughly lovely day.

Handy car park, visitor centre with café, very friendly service and a decent cup of tea, just along the road from a pretty row of houses/shops. There was also a very friendly outdoor clothing shop a 30 second walk away.
We stopped after a drive up the valley towards Mam Tor.

A visitors centre situated in the centre of Castleton, next to a car park.
Toilets available.
A cafe inside the centre.
Inside you will find gifts, descriptive write ups, history and information about the whole peak district, not just the immediate area.
Local maps and guide books can be purchased.
A great place to visit to assist in any vacation.

What a lovely village to explore visitors centre with cafe toilets and public houses surrounded by beautiful scenery. We had a walk around the outskirts of the village taking in cavecove, Castle, caverns. The walk was about 3hrs long trek but great scenery with the spooky low cloud. Great day out 👌👍

They have a few room (free) museum that gives a little history and info about the area, a cafe, and nice gift shop. It's worth a brief stop, and easy to access as its right off the car park.
