One of our fav places to go. Dog friendly, great beer, amazing pizzas. Always good when they have street food too. When it’s busy though its very busy

Great staff, lovely atmosphere. Such an idyllic location, too. I brought a group from Leicester CAMRA on my preserved bus and we were well looked after.

20 minutes walk from where I live. Terrific beer selection, great ciders and good food. staff always helpful and friendly. Pizza all year round and BBQ in the summer. I like the idea that all the waste from the brewery is used locally, either feeding the local pigs and cows or the hops going to the compost heaps at Calke Abbey. And they buy the meat from the same place the spent malt and yeast goes, so a very small half mile round circle, low carbon cycle.

Great little place in the middle of National Forest recommended to me by a client last week. Quality ales at very reasonable prices in a beautifully restored building. We even tried the pizza, such amazing service!

Alright pizza (very limited options too). The beer is (surprisingly) poor. Also the place is very rough; which shouldbe charming but also the "toilets" consists of 1 portaloo. I wouldn't be keen on going back. e

Life's good. The sun's shining and the snow drops are lifting their promising white blooms through the wrack of the woodlands floor.
Who'd not find joy on a day like today. And then, when you weren't looking for more you follow a sign and find yourself at The Milking Parlour.
It was the thought of bringing home a few bottles of beer, brewed here at the Tollgate Brewery that snagged us. But once inside it's funky interior it was the pizza, freshly baked, that got out bums into chairs.
It was good, everything was good. Beer, pizza, atmosphere, the friendly people and the clinking box with which we eventually departed.
Will I return? Most definitely yes, already arranged and, this time along with more bellies to reward.
Meanwhile I'll get going on those beers I brought home so that there's room for more next time.

Absolutely gorgeous venue. Lovely beers. Staff friendly to a fault. Irrepressibly doggy friendly. Excited to see how the new barn and pizza oven go when they fully (re) open. 12/10 would booze again.
