Love this bar, we've only been in for drinks so I can't comment on the food.
The bar staff are really friendly. We always get the watermelon woo woo, it's delicious
It's well worth getting a pitcher of the cocktails, a glass is around £8 and the pitcher is £15ish, but you easily get 3 and a half glasses

First time I have been in here. The portion size are very large and didn't expect that. Nearly made a mistake and ordered main course meals after our sharing platter.
I think there should be more tables near the window to overlook the castle n cathedral.
Will come back and not order so much food next time. We all enjoyed.

We had a tapas deal - 4 tapas and 2 sangrias for £25. Great deal for the money, big portions, delicious beef and nice drinks. Great view and location is a pleasant bonus in a sunny day.

Have been here many times, mostly for drinks during the day. Love the decor. Drink prices average for Durham. Only had food, during the day, once. Had the sangria and 4 tappas for 25 pounds and really enjoyed it. The food was delicious. Service has usually been okay. I don't think I'd eat here on a weekend evening as the music is very loud, bar chocka and people dancing right next to you, hen/stag dos taking over. It's like eating in the middle of a nightub, not a restaurant. If I'm eating out I like to be able to have a conversation and just background music. Will stick to day time visits and early evening weekday visits as enjoy these, here.

We had a really great meal here. Every choice was excellent. We were recommended 2 main dishes and a side each, and this proved exactly right for us. We enjoyed every option we chose, especially the Moroccan lamb.

Loses a star as it took 50 minutes plus to get the meal from the order being taken as it was very busy with minimal staff, but the staff were apologetic about this.

In general the staff were excellent. Friendly and helpful. We took advantage of a Sunday daytime discount which was on offer so it was not expensive either. The toilets were excellent, very clean. The atmosphere was friendly. We would certainly go again.

Really enjoyed our visit, and a couple of small changes would have made it excellent. Firstly, the music is quite loud, especially towards the rear nearer speakers. Made conversation a little difficult when out for a meal. It wasn't unbearable or anything though. I would also suggest they make the menu a bit clearer. Had to ask staff and they explained they suggest you buy approximately three to four dishes to share. This is not clear from the menu, nor is it explained what dishes come with in terms of vegetables/rice/chips. The food when it did come was excellent though, really nice and good value too. Lots of cocktails on the menu, but we had prosecco and a beer. Beer selection was just average, especially if you like quality craft beer.

Great place! Food was excellent. I highly recommend the Watermelon Woo Woo, a great cocktail to share. Book in advance if you want to have food at the weekend as it gets very busy. Good location too.
