Firstly the staff were excellent. Four Rhymney ales. Smallish pub, busy (this is probably because you can place a bet at the bar I was informed). Two large TV screens showing horse racing. Chain of these pubs developing (i.e. The Federation, Maesteg etc).

Small local pub with locally brewed beer (Export 5%) is a very good pint but it usually takes 2 pints to really appreciate the taste. Generally quite noisy daytime with horse racing and betting on TV. The bar staff are very helpful and always pleased to serve you even sometimes bring it to you if they can. Has a coal fire which is inviting on a dark winter's night but generally to hot in the summer time when lit. Overall well worth a visit.

Brilliant pub. Great beer and friendly staff. A shade old school and all the better for it. If you're in Merthyr I'd recommend looking this place up.
