My friend is profoundly deaf and wears hearing aids, so when I asked about background music (makes hearing harder) the manageress immediately offered us a room upstairs which is usually just for functions and we enjoyed a great meal and wonderful service. Would definitely go again

Lovely old pub with brilliant staff, excellent ale and good food - and they love Morris Dancers. What's not to like! Thank you for looking after the Kennet MM.

It's a totally okay pub. Lots of character obviously. It didn't feel like a locals pub when we went on a rainy Friday afternoon and I suspect it's a bit of a 'destination option' as it has a lot of backstory for the eager tourist.
My wife's fish and chips came with a massive hair. Can't say if it was fresh or farm-raised, but it was long and warmly ensconced in her (too thick) batter.
Barman refunded me with no issues after we both agreed that we'd love hair that lustrous and long.
We didn't see the ghost, but we can tell people the tale of the disappearing lunch.

Well what can I say, our large family booked here for Christmas lunch catch up and we were greeted when we entered, Jason the manager reserved us the room upstairs and I must say they done an amazing set up with the room, the the table setting was stunning and the room itself was warm and cozy. The Christmas lunch was very tasty and nice and hot. The staff were very friendly and so prompt with everything. We will definitely be back for another visit.. thank you so much for making our
Day special 👌

Really old historic pub near the cathedral. Quite small inside but a fabulous atmosphere. Mulled wine and food on offer

We had an absolutely lovely time in this cosy pub. The staff were amazing, special thanks to Elliot for the great food recommendations and taking care of us! Highly recommend all of the Christmas Tapas. So delicious and filling!! We were on a short trip and would definitely come back another day. Many thanks!

It was just taken over by new management so they were under-stocked on the menu for food but it was cosy enough though and was busy.

Delightful Tudor pub with wonderful drinks and accommodating staff.

Thoroughly enjoy the Cumberlands and the Pie. Both the gravys were stunning and was a real delight to wash it down with a nice cask ale.

Just nitpicking but the Cumberlands could have done with some more colour on them and the starters section of the menu could be expanded.

But that's just nitpicking it's a wonderful menu and a great place to enjoy some pub grub.
