Great restaurant with great staff and service! The food was amazing, particularly the dessert and they even added little hearts on our plates as we were celebrating our engagement! Highly recommend

Our child was sick and we had to go home, and cut our holiday short. In the midst of a fairly poorly (and contagious) child, and a 2 hour drive, we forgot to cancel our booking. We were still charged £20 for a no show despite explaining our situation to the pub. I understand the pub lost out, (although im sure they could have gave the table away) but a bit of compassion would have been appreciated. Maybe use this as a heads up if you are booking a table with young children when life isnt always predictable. The pub did only fine us for the 2 adults and not the 1 year old and 3 year old, every cloud.

Great atmosphere and lovely menu, slight wait although no problems once your chatting away. Only Criticism was that the sirloin was on the fatty side and quite hard to cut with the steak knives provided. Overall pleasant experience with a great selection of food and drinks.

Excellent food (as always) & great service from the front of house team. Definitely worth a visit for high quality food in a relaxed style.

Great service and friendly staff!
First time being in Lake District and food surprised me on how vegan friendly they are.

This pub was recommended from my accommodation and made a reservation. We were late for our reservation but the staff were very accommodating and allowed us to keep our table despite being 20mins late.

Food was good despite limited options. The vegan mushroom burger tasted freshly made along with the flour bun which was terrific and hella fresh. The Chucky chips were prob the best I've had, super crispy and fluffy in the centre. The only gripe is that I wished they had some sort of relish or sauce with the burger as it was slightly dry after a few bites.

My missus had the risotto which was also good - creamy and well seasoned. But wished they had wild mushrooms in it.

For dessert we shared the daily crumble with sorbet and was decent but expect more.

A fantastic place, we stopped for the night on a long road trip. Staff was friendly and welcoming, the room was cosy and spacious.
The bar serves a good choice of draught ales and local gin by a fabulous fireplace. Our supper (and breakfast) were served in the dining room. The menu a small but all ingredients are local, fresh and skillfully prepared.
We wish this place was in our home town, we'd eat out every day.

Superb lunch. Nice surroundings. You can certainly tell they care about where their ingredients come from. Great starters. Delicious beef pie for my wife, carefully cooked fresh veg sides. My beef burger had even more flavour - almost gamey (be aware). But Star of the show may well be the chips - almost worth the trip on their own!

Now our no 1 destination for a stop over when heading north. Lovely staff, great room and amazing Chef producing truly wonderful fare. The evening meal surpassed our expectations with ease. Tasted, incredible and the aroma of the good being cooked was outstandingly mouthwatering. Truly brilliant.
