Clean. All amenities. Trouser press hairdryer tea/coffee etc.
Just needed blinds or better curtains to stop light coming through.
Good value hotel. Pleasant staff.
Would recommend

Pub is a bit dated but a warm welcome and decent pint 👍🏻

Clean rooms, comfy bed, powerful shower, cheap price per night. The rooms are a bit outdated but for this price I've got to say we weren't surprised. The lady who checked us in/served drinks was really nice and when she found out that we have fully grown German Shepherd with us she looked for the biggest room she could find for us (but then realised we were already staying in the biggest one room 5) which was really kind of her! Free parking literally 30 seconds walk or they have 2 spaces outside of hotel. Overall we have enjoyed our stay!

Stayed here over the bank holiday. Found the room very clean and spacious. John was very nice and helpful, the locals were very friendly too. I noticed that another reviewer didn't like that the backdoor was open for guests. This is not unusual and unless you knew it was open you would not know and we felt perfectly safe.

We checked into this B&B/ guesthouse and we couldn’t complain about the room for the price we paid.

To cut a long story short, we’d just got back to the room after calling to the pub over the road for food and drink. After about an hour or so we noticed there was a smokey haze in the air and an awful smell, it slowly got worse over the next twenty minutes so I called the bar by phone as we were in bed at this point, the barman answered and I told him about the problem and he mentioned that they had their open fire burning and said he would die it out when he had time.

Another half an hour passed by and the the smoke had got worse, so at this point I got ready and went down to the bar to find the fire had recently had more wood put on it and it was roaring. I confronted the barman and asked him to come to the room and see the issue for himself which he did, he said he’d put the fire out immediately but by this point my girlfriend was starting to feel dizzy and nauseous. I tried to contact two phone numbers left on the landing which said to call if there were any issues but neither answered.

I asked if we could change rooms but all the other rooms were occupied. We opened the window and hoped this would clear the air but it didn’t. My girlfriend couldn’t stand to stay in the room any longer so we decided to go to another B&B at further expense to ourselves.

I left my name, phone number and room number with the barman and he said someone would be in touch, it’s been over four days now and I haven’t heard a thing.

Looking back now we were lucky really because if we had both been asleep, us and our dog might not have woken up in the morning due to carbon monoxide poisoning.

It was room 4.

I have reported the property to the relevant departments.

What can I say.
No staff, all back doors open for arrival meaning the place isn’t secure. A hand written note with two mobile numbers if you need anything but no answer.

The bar doesn’t open and no mention of that on booking, so we had to walk to other locations for food etc with a disabled family member made it difficult.

The only reason it gets a one star is the shower was hot and powerful and big towels.

Booking.com should be mindful listing this place as it’s really not up to standard.

Be careful!!!! - booked this via Booking.com on a free cancellation basis. The money for the stay was taken out prior to the booking and we had to cancel the booking. We cancelled well within the free cancellation period however a refund has not been given. We have tried contacting the property by phone, email and via Booking.com however no response. I don't like to write negative reviews however as the property will not answer my calls or return emails messages etc i feel i need to warn people of this potential issue that they could face.

Our experience is similar to that of others recently. Rooms were reasonable for the price but that was about the only positive really. Rooms weren't ready when we arrived so we had to wait while cleaners from another establishment quickly sorted them. No staff present throughout our 3 night stay and back door open most of the time allowing anyone to walk in. When we arrived back on the first evening the door was locked and we had no instructions how to get in - thankfully someone from the pub across the road knew how to get in through another open door. The building is very tired indeed and it's also quite noisy from vehicles outside.
Our deposit wasn't taken into consideration when two further payments equalling the agreed total was taken from our credit card and no response by phone or email has led to a claim back through the credit card company! Avoid.
