Perfect country pub serving ales on gravity, some from their own wooden casks. Ever changing selection. Popular with locals and walkers, dogs welcome. No food apart from bagged snacks. Difficult to find, which is a good thing for those that do.

I wish I could of brought my dearly departed dad here. I'm so proud to have this as my local because this is exactly what a pub used to be. No gastro-goop, no fancy blackboard with 'meaningful' quotes. This place is is all about warm welcomes, great folk, fine ales and a good bit of banter. What's not to like ?

Only ever dropped my husband off and picked him up from here, by all accounts it is the best pub in the area.

Very traditional country pub experience. No signage outside and you could easily walk past without realising it's a pub. Great ale selection with beers from all over the country. Occasionally sells local Larkin's beer from wooden casks but unfortunately none was available when I dropped in. Also sells cider from wooden cask.

A small seating area in the heritage pub interior encourages conversation among the customers. There's also a very pleasant garden. This pub won't be for everyone but if you're looking for a quiet, traditional ale house you'll probably love it. Only open evenings during the week and is closed 3pm - 6pm on weekends.

No slot machines, no beer engines or beer pumps and no jukebox. Please do not change a thing. Must be preserved in the current perfect state

Very cute old school pub with direct pour cask ale and a very cosy vibe. A proper local, which makes me want to move within walking distance, but welcoming to all comers.

A friendly, off-the beaten track local pub, serving great ales direct from the cask. Very traditional interior, and the locals are engaged in funny conversations and banter. This was a great pit stop on our long walk. I think this was how all pubs used to be - a genuine meeting place rather than somewhere to extract money out of you - I hope it never changes!
