Great ambiance, indoor seating and large outdoor space - really nice given the weather. Standard pub fare on offer, one or two vegetarian options as well.

On balance I'm awarding the Plough (or Original Plough as it's currently known) 4🌟. Had a full irish breakfast just now which was excellent, generously sized exceptional value. Good choice of drinks on the bar (although my first choice out of stock today). Tried half each of Timothy Taylor Landlord and St Austell Tribute. Both were OK, not spectacular but not off either. At least at served at the correct temperature not warm. So I think 4🌟 is a fair and balanced rating on todays visit (dd 25.8.22)

The breakfast is fantastic and really cheap compared to other places in town, loved it! Had the Irish breakfast and was not disappointed.

The inside is very clean and the ambience is always on point. The staff genuinely appear to enjoy their jobs and are happy to have a conversation with you. The pub is right next to the station which is great for pre LDN beers or a night cap on the way home.

Overall I’d say this is the best pub in Chelmsford. Perfect for sports fans as well as there’s loads of tables/chairs and about 5 or 6 TVs so you can always get a view of the screen. Happy to call it my local!

A great gastro/ football pub. Located near the rail and bus station. Good ambience and feel. Great selection of beer and ales ( the usual stalwarts, independents etc) and food. There are 3 separate areas ( restaurant, bar, garden/outdoor). Good number of TV screens for the footy. There are good meal deals here. The food was also of a very high standard. Highly recommended. Good vegetarian selection.

Decent little pub right by station.

Standard range of beers, good staff.

Nothing to stand out from other pubs but nothing to knock it for either.

A great pub all round! Food is always nice and great value and a good choice of pints too. Works well as both a place for a quick pub lunch when working or for watching the football with a few pints after work!

Nice pub by the train station. Good selection of beers on tap. Plenty of seating and room to stand if the pub gets busy. Staff friendly and helpful.
