I do like this pub and the staff are lovely but when I'm going out for a roast, I want a proper portion. I payed for exta yorkshires and potatoes but only got a tiny amount of veg and 2 small slices of beef. Definitely could've done better. It wasn't like the pub was packed and had to give small portions as there was so many people to feed.

We visited the nearby pubs for a quick drink and some food. The Duke was our favourite for both the food choices and overall friendliness. Nice (not so) little place with relatively attentive staff. Will come back.

Great selection of craft beers and Whiskeys. Unfortunately the bar staff seem unable to smile, count to one (there were two cubes of ice in my whiskey) or even saying thank you to guest that have just paid for a £17 round

The service was great and food was enjoyable. The guy who served us was excellent, making sure our family had a nice table in the more quiet corner in the back after a long day of travel.

This was my first visit here as I was meeting colleagues from work for a tea meeting.

Very impressed by the range of food, which was extremely good value for money.

Pity the staff weren’t able to smile, but them aside the food was excellent, and I guess we are allowed to have “off days” in terms of smiling and making clients feel welcome.

Will be back for another meeting soon.

Shocking how bad the food was.. overcooked seems to be the norm?
Went in with two small kids
We ordered, steak, burger, and the kids emails were sausages and pasta. The overall cost was reasonable but when the food arrived we were disappointed.
The kids tomato pasta was baked to death! It was dry and I asked for more tomato sauce as this wasn't fair to a child to eat plain hard pasta. The sausages with mash and peas, were hard (again!)
The steak was lukewarm and the burger was again solid with a paltry amount of fries.
I assume a majority of this wasn't cooked fresh but it looks like frozen items have been cooked to death. Hard to believe people had left this homes to eat this?
A group near us left as they didn't enjoy hearing music over this drinks(each to their own)
Also the barman could smile a little more.... doesn't add to an already poor experience.
By far the worst food we have eaten outside !! Will not be returning looking at the standard of this, the chef needs a strong word when tomato pasta was just about the best thing served to us....

Really disappointing. Food unpleasant and pub understaffed. One girl on her own manning the bar, running orders from kitchen and dealing with inevitable complaints about rubbish food. Her manager was around but not supporting her. The pub was also weirdly cold! So much so, a few customers were trying to sort the radiators. Such a shame as used to be alright!
