Bedford Tavern

Update your Google opening times or if you have private events then put a sign up rather than turn people down at the bar. This place has recently turned into the 'office' for Ukrainian refugee hosts due to the number of times we have to visit the VAC next door so a nice pub next door is small reprieve from hours of waiting. Bearing in mind your location, why don't you do a deal for the hosts having to wait hours leaning up against the pub garden wall rather than embarrass them at the bar?

Enjoyed a great meal. Good value for money, it was so big I shared with a friend. Always a great atmosphere, staff are friendly and helpful. Really great place to eat and relax. You need to get there early as its a really popular place.

Popped in with a friend and the dog to sit in the front outside area. Was told after we bought our drinks by the unapologetic manager that no dogs were allowed but there is no signage anywhere to say that.
I won't be going back in a hurry even though it dies have a good range of beers.

Popped in Saturday lunchtime and went back Sunday to watch Liverpool v man city .short walk to the premier Inn where I stayed and not much further to east Croydon station .really smart inside .loved the decor with the old style adverts etc BEST WISHES TO CAROLINE 👍BEHIND THE BAR . Amazing place! Staff is really friendly, food is delicious, fair prices.

I would definitely come again if I'm around.

The first pub ever that I was warned by a racist man for talking on the phone in my native language. Moreover, the staff also stood by the mans side and attitude and continued warning me to keep my voice down!!! They literally attacked my freedom as woman to be able to sit and have a drink in a pub by my self!!
This is completely racist and not acceptable. Never recommend this place!!!

Rude women behind the bar. Told me you aren't allowed dogs in the outside garden, only on a weekend. Let us buy a full round of drinks first though. Been coming with the dog every Friday for months. Seen other people with dogs in the week outside. Also is Friday not a weekend ... eitherway will not be back.

Racist staff:
We are arrived at Bedford tavern at around 21:30 . My partner used the toilet straight away. When she came out to reach me as we were looking for a table to seat , one of the staff , Caroline, approached us advising us to leave . When we asked the reasons why she just stated “ you had enough to drink” . When we asked on what bases she made this comment she replied to partner :” oh it’s the way you walked to the toilet “ . Myself and my partner we spent the afternoon packing out luggage and decided to have a drink before leaving England as we are planned to spend a month abroad .
We asked for evidence as we have not been given a proper explanation. We have been client to dame put for few occasions as it’s only few minutes walk from home . We did not approach anyone and when we further asked for reason my partner had been pushed and threatened to leave . We encouraged the staff to call for the police but she didn’t . We had been approached by other patrons , all white , that were questioning what was happening.
One patron told us alongside with the staff “ you don’t need a reason you just need to leave when you are told to”.
I wonder if this is linked to racial reasons or other discriminatory factors as we are both black n queers .
