Knew this was going to be good from the booking conversation with Sandy. Superb welcome on arrival and our table was decorated with happy birthday banners and a birthday card from the management. Joe, Sandy and Kyle gave us attentive and knowledgeable service, friendly and engaging but without being overly familiar. It was truly five star service. The food was delicious and the portions ample, so much so that we had no room for dessert ... which was a shame as they looked wonderful and substantial.
Everything about this establishment says friendliness, quality and professionalism. The location is exquisite and the ponies clearly think so too. A great place for hikers and responsible dog lovers (must be on a lead). We will be back and we will tell all our friends too.

Wow 😍 I’d heard this place was good, but it met my expectations and more! Would give more than 5 stars if I could. Wonderful traditional cosy atmosphere, faultless service from staff and incredible food. The steak and ale pie had so much meat and was just perfect! And the desserts… yum 😋 100% recommended.

We came here on the 24th August after exploring the New Forest, and had hands down the best pie I’ve ever tasted. I had the steak and ale pie, which had the most tender slow stewed beef in it, jam packed to the edge. Nothing chewy or dry, accompanied by some steamed veg, chips and gravy. My other half opted for the mushroom pie, just as amazing! We’ve said we’ll travel back just for the food!!

Parking spaces outside the front of the inn, or there’s room down the road to park by the hedges.

All the staff were super friendly and helpful too, if you ever go to the new forest, make sure you drop here for lunch or dinner. You won’t be disappointed!

Lovely New Forest pub with a beautiful, short circular forest walk (2.5km/1 hr) that includes horses and deer. Brilliant ales. Didn't eat there but locals do and I looked good. Very friendly service.

Lovely pub off the beaten track. Parking spaces out the front. Very friendly staff. Dog friendly!!! Beautiful food with a fantastic vegan and vegetarian menu. I had the vegan chorizo burger which I would highly recommend. My mother had the vegan curried cauliflower pie which she would also recommend.

For years I drove past this beautiful pub in the New Forest on my way to work and this weekend I finally went there for dinner with a friend. It is as pretty and authentic inside as it is outside. The food was delicious and the staff very attentive and friendly. I will now definitely go more often there. Great place!

First time visiting, on a recommendation from family. Gorgeous old pub with lots of character (I especially love the wooden menus!) Good food all round - the Venison steaks were wonderful, the vegan burger was lovely, the taste of the forest was excellent, and all the deserts were great too! Highly recommend a visit if you're in the area.

After a long cold day in Winchester, was looking forward to a traditional British pub experience in the New Forest. On arrival there was little to no parking, so I had to walk a fair way down the long dark road, couldn't help but think it was the start of the Blair witch Project!? Food was average at best but we were set around an L-shape table with more chairs than people...was like trying to move through a shopping aisle of fat people. Unfortunately there were no baby changing facilities & our best effort was swapping nappies in the middle of the pub. Food was a little plain Jane & for the price you would expect better to be honest. Service was pretty good & the young staff were highly attentive. Loved the fact they appreciated having the dogs making up, what was a warm atmosphere.
