Absolutely disgusted with this place, the landlord has a great con going, After parking up & taking my client to lunch, we got told we wasn't welcome, at first I thought this was a joke & said why. (landlord) because you're a contractor, this was no joke. We got told to leave & then charged £1 for leaving the car park, otherwise the barrier would not be lifted. Pls be very careful going here as obviously outsiders are not welcome.... I've posted picture of entrance to car Park, hope this helps....

Decent pub with inside & outside seating. The beer prices are very reasonable and the place can get very busy at popular times. They don't serve food if that's what you are looking for, it's very much a drinking establishment.

Myself and my partner came to Kendal for a staycation after not being able to get a proper holiday. Yesterday was his birthday and we decided to pop into town for a drink after heading into Windermere for a meal. We walked into the horse and rainbow and we were eventually served by a lovely gentleman who was very helpful. There was no seats inside due to the football being on so we decided to sit outside in the beer garden and watch the last 5 minutes of the football. A member of staff then came outside snd sat with her friends having a cigarette. After the game had finished she announced to the entire beer garden, whilst still sat down, that we had 5 minutes to get out of the beer garden and go inside as she had to ‘shut the beer garden down’ even though the pub remained open til 12am - it was 10pm.
Myself and my partner just left as the customer service was terrible and not acceptable.

Having had a long morning exploring the delights of Kendal, it was time for a small beverage. Arriving at the Horse & Rainbow, there were no staff to be seen. One of us completed the track & trace information while the others sought out a table. The Landlord scornfully admonished, told we should all sign in. Thinking this is a minor misunderstanding, we took our seats at the table while the Landlord came to take our order. One of us were looking at the beer taps to pick a beverage and were instead aggressively told by the Landlord “look at me instead. What do you want?”.

We we astonished by the rudeness and aggression in tone which continued throughout our visit. 2 stars as was at least a decent pint. A place for those that don’t value being treated like a human being.
