Visited with friends for food, we didn't have booking but they were able to fit us in even though it was quite busy in a Wednesday evening. Food was lovely I had the salmon with onion mash. Would definitely recommend

So happy we have stopped here! everybody was extremely friendly and we had delicious food freshly made! We couldn't believe how good it was for the price we paid. I would give them 6 stars if possible!

My boyfriend and I were visiting Chesterfield and randomly picked this pub to eat in. Really glad we did. The food was absolutely beautiful. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. It’s a proper ‘pub’ and they’re hard to find these days! Loved it. We’ll definitely be going back.

Great town centre pub, good range of ales and very nice food. We were a big party so a lot of pre-ordered food to bring out. my food was rather cool, but delicious. That's the only reason I haven't given 5 stars

Not been in for years but was invited by my friend for a meal. It's a lovely traditional pub with very pleasant friendly staff. My fish and chips with mushy peas were definitely home made and soooo delicious. However, one small niggle which I hope will not happen next time, my food was warm rather than hot and I think it probably had been put on a cold plate. And although the fish looked generous it was a tail end so half very thin, barely as thick as a Dover sole, I expect a bit better for £13.50. this was likely a one off , my friend enjoyed her meal and eats there often, we will definitely go again because it really is a great little pub.

The Market (Pub) is a solid, traditional pub in the heart of Chesterfield. They offer about half a dozen cask ales on tap, usually reliable, well known ales like Timothy Landlord, Titanic Plum Porter, and Oakham Citra. Nothing too fancy, just solid. Pleasingly comfortable décor, clearly a place to linger. Nice staff, too.

Best scallops I’ve ever had. The service is fantastic. The atmosphere is brilliant.

We had an issue with my main we found a bone and it was dealt with so professionally and perfectly.

Would return and highly recommend

Used to be brilliant but has become outdated and very overpriced.
The recent eat-safe review giving only a 2 star hygiene rating has put me off for life. I know personally that there's very little training to catering staff (not even basic food hygiene) and that the head chef has commented to me their colleagues don't wash whites between shifts and are pulled up on this, but because the cramped conditions are create such awful work conditions not many want to work there so this is tolerated.
