What a lovely country pub!!

We had the new lunchtime menu and ate all 3 courses.

Wonderful food, very good value for money, nice attentive professional service.

Kids also handed back empty plates!!

Overall 10 out of 10.

We will be back and will highly recommend

Lovely pub, great food and very friendly staff. Reasonable prices too. Nice to have owners/staff who are genuinely pleased to welcome you in.

Had a lovely lunch here the other day. It’s a beautiful olde English country pub, with a nice warm log burner and fireplace.
The Steak & Ale pie and mash, plus the sticky toffee pudding, with custard, were both fabulous. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely come here again.

Walked on Saturday the 4th feb for an early dinner. 6 adults, 1 child and 3 dogs.

The pub was cold and no fires were on or heating.

The waitresses were lovely and helpful and actually the only credible thing about this visit and allowed our dog on the bench as along as sat on a blanket.

Starters were ok however the burgers in which we ordered were diabolical.

£13.95 for a burger and 11 chips. I understand that there is a cost of living crisis however this is absurd ( see photo attached)

We asked to speak to the manager who turned out to be a the chef, and was very defensive, condescending and argumentative.

When discussing the fact that the burgers were dry & had no salad. The rude gentleman then continued to say we won’t get anything of the same quality for the same price naming the red lion in houghton regis.

Having now reviewed the menu of the Old red lion the burgers( see photo attached) I will let you make your own mind up.

One world of advice would be to take constructive criticism and use it to elevate what you do.

The reason for 2 stars was due to the welcoming and helpful waitresses.

The food here is always really tasty but had the roast beef last Sunday and the chicken madras this week and absolutely loved both. Chicken madras honestly one of the best curries I’ve had.

Arrived at 5.30 p.m. midweek and pub was really busy. Chap behind the bar found us a table straight away despite having a booking for 30 arriving around 7 p.m. Very good choice of well kept ales and varied menu to suit most tastes. 3 of us had main courses only. Piping hot ,very tasty. Easy to see why it is so popular. Will dine again soon.
