Excellent service and good covid secure dining. Good English pub food. This was my review from my first visit. Last night I ordered the same fish pie. I was expecting the same as before but was left sadly disappointed by a sloppy concoction which was mostly potato and cheese. Don't know where the white fish chunks of salmon and white fish where this time. Don't know where the king prawns were this time. All I found amongst the cheese and potato was a fishy flavour and two small shrimps. Presumably it has some sort of fish stock but sadly no actual fish. So I was extremely disappointed and ripped off. The fish cakes I ordered for a starter were equally as fish less. I am so disappointed. The only saving grace was the impeccable service from the staff. Last time we had waitor service but this time we had to order at the bar. For a meal that cost £104 this is so below standard that I would give it a 0 star if I could. The pictures were from my first visit.
Quite disappointed they didn't respond to my comments.

Enjoyed my besties 60th birthday lunch on 12th October. Booked (although wasn't really needed). First time the four of us had been in a very long time. Heard good things, so decided to try it out. Wasn't disappointed. The food was very good and service exemplary. I ordered the steak and blue cheese salad. Plenty of steak on the plate and very tasty. Was a tad disappointed that it was a blue cheese dressing rather than actual cheese but nonetheless, it was very good. I did order a portion of sweet potato fries to go with (well you do don't you 😂) My partner had steak pie and friends had gammon and sirloin steak. All said their food was lovely. We didn't indulge in any dessert as had birthday cake to devour when we got back home 😋 Now this is my fault but, as a wine drinker, I had two glasses of sauvignon blanc (large) with the meal. I didn't ask prices as it was a birthday celebration and thought what the hell. When we asked for the bill, my wine was by far the most expensive item. I have to say, it was gorgeous wine, so although very expensive, I really enjoyed it. Perhaps next time, I'll order a different beverage 😁
Brilliant time all round and will definitely return. 😀

We have eaten here a few times now and each time has been better than the last. Our most recent visit was mid January for my nieces birthday. We had a table for 18! Despite the big table, we were well looked after. The staff were excellent (especially a young man named Max.. if I can remember right). The food was superb, as always. Can’t wait for the next visit!

Myself and 5 of my friends went to Hunters for their 3 course Christmas meal. The food was really good. The vegan menu was excellent! I had the mushroom tart, the nut roast and then chocolate junkyard for dessert. All three courses were fabulous, my friends all seemed to really enjoy their food too. The tables were all decorated with Christmas crackers and Santa hats, the place looked really nice. We were then invited to play a few (free) Christmas games winning a bottle gin before moving to the dance floor to dance the night away. Over all a lovely evening, great food, helpful friendly staff with a warm friendly atmosphere

Really nice place, used to be our local, but I think they are now charging too much for drinks... £23 for a bottle of prosecco that costs a fiver in the supermarket and £16 in another local bar a mile away..... Went yesterday for festive afternoon tea, which was absolutely delicious and good value, despite not being able to see my friends around the table because of how the food was served. Sad to say we ate the food and then left for a more affordable session. Would I rush back... not really, which is a shame.
