This is a brilliant pub!!! Service is top notch and everyone is so friendly. The food? 10/10 especially the Sunday roast! Very reasonably priced and tasted amazing. Great portion sizes and you get the option to order a smaller or larger plate depending on how much you can eat! They also have 99ps with a flake!! Great seating availability & very clean. Dog friendly and parking! 100% recommend and definitely coming back

I am giving 2 stars mainly for the service as our waitress was really good and also the decor and atmosphere is nice. However, the food was not so good. I booked for a Sunday lunch just over a week ago and was really disappointed. It was nothing like the reviews or pictures from 4 months ago. The party I was with all ordered the beef brisket as a Sunday roast (one light option) and the presentation of the food was quite bad. It was just a heaped mess of pulled beef brisket basically dumped on top of very few vegetables that were made too soggy as a result and totally hidden by the beef. The roast potatoes were not very hot and also undercooked. It was the same for all of the people I was dining with. The beef was good quality and the Yorkshire pudding, but the amount of beef and presentation severely let it down. The lack of vegetables, undercooked roast potatoes, and soggy vegetables just let it down. We were there for a long overdue catch up and didn't want to ruin it by complaining, so we just said everything was OK when the waitress asked, but now I wish I'd said something. The dessert was actually delicious and more or less saved the day. As this is a nice venue with good staff, it's a shame the food and food presentation of the main course let it down.

We just celebrated our parents diamond wedding anniversary at the red lion. The service was very good and the food went down a treat. Staff were polite and a great atmosphere.

A very agreeable establishment. Great interior, tasty food, reasonable prices, pristine loos and excellent serving staff. Very cosy inside with period decor and a variety of seats to suit all postures. The menu isn't challenging but offers something for most tastes with options and additions at low prices. My steak was cooked perfectly as were my companions beetroot and chicken burgers. The wine list starts around £17 a bottle and all available by the small, medium or, in my case, large glass. Dessert menu proved to be more satisfying than on initial glance. Car park spacious. What's not to like?

I had a wonderful Sunday roast at the Red Lion! Lovely atmosphere, brilliant staff and mouth watering food. The place was packed, but they were still able to get me a table for 1. I ordered the beer-braised beef brisket roast, which was a good choice. The food itself was incredible and very filling. The gravy was rich in flavour, and everything else on my plate was very well prepared. I especially loved the baked potatoes!

Again, I just have to mention how wonderful the staff was during my afternoon lunch there. They were smiling, polite and very helpful towards me! (Yea, I look at you, boy and two girl waitresses! Wished I caught your names.) Even though there were so many other guests to attend to, they still made sure I had everything I needed. I will make sure to come back here again during the two months I have left here in Hatfield! (Life of an exchange student) thanks for the amazing experience! Definitely recommended.

Bonus; it's literally so close to the Hatfield train station!

Good chain pub - did have a small problem with our meals. It was reported to the manager, straight away, and resolved immediately. We STILL left a tip for good service AND we will return and continue to recommend the venue.
