Lovely Sunday lunch , had the trio of meats followed by rhubarb & polenta dessert with custard . 1st time visit, lovely inside, fire was blazing so comfy and warm. Looked after by a young lady called Leah, who was pleasant, very attentive and extremely good at her job 😊. Really enjoyed it, highly recommended and will definitely be returning. 👍

We booked here to celebrate mothers day and for my mother in laws birthday (both on the same day), it's the first time I've been to the River Wyre and I am very impressed by all aspects. The staff were very welcoming, the young waiter who served us was lovely; he had a chat with us, shared a few jokes and was lovely to my 3 young children. The food was wonderful, I had the duck and ate every bit, my 8 year old autistic son even tried and enjoyed it. There was something for everyone on the menu.

The staff, upon learning that it was my mother in laws birthday, brought out a little pot of ice cream with a candle in it and they all sang happy birthday to her. We got our puddings to go, and when we went up to the bar to pay, the young man who took our payment was again very lovely and chatty. Every member of staff were wonderful and served us with a smile and couldn't do enough to help, even when the restaurant was full of diners.

The manageress was very sweet, she asked if we enjoyed our meals, asked if there was anything else we needed and also avenged for me to have the creme brulee as a takeaway dessert without it being mushed up in the takeaway box. My family will be coming back here again, we all felt very respected and comfortable. There is ample parking and disabled parking available, too. Both the outside and inside are very clean and sanitary, including both the male and female toilets. 10/10, definitely recommend.

We visited on Bank Holiday Monday, and we were pleasantly surprised thar we could get a table.
We were greeted by a nice young man, who was really welcoming and friendly.
The food was fantastic, a little more expensive than a standard pub meal but worth every penny.
The waiting staff were attentive but not intrusive and the food arrived in good time.
I would highly recommend visiting, this was a superb meal in a lovely pub. 👍👍👍

Visited today and had the new black forest flower pot dessert. Absolutely amazing flavours. The sorbet was to die for. Would definitely recommend it

What a difference 2 yrs makes.

I reviewed this place 2yrs ago and only rated it two stars. I only gave it two on that review because of the staff who were friendly and helpful. Other than that the food was burnt and the decor dismal.

After today's visit I deleted that review as I didn't feel it did them any justice.

Went back to try the brunch and what a transformation. They have undergone a huge refurbishment and they have done a fantastic job of it. It's now airy and light with now dingy extractor fans in sight.

Huge improvement on the food too I had the small cooked breakfast with mushrooms and beetroot hash browns added as extras .. and I can't pick fault with any of it .. food was served hot and tasted great.

Hubby to be was feeling hungry so had the eggs royal and smashed avocado on sourdough toast with poached egg .. he didn't have a bad word to say about his food either.

And the staff were as friendly and helpful as ever, glad we gave the place a second chance, loved it. We will be back

Our first visit since the refurbishment and it didn't disappoint. The staff are very friendly and helpful with the new menu and the choice is excellent.
We went for dessert and cocktails and it was sublime.
The cocktails are proper cocktails, not watered down or just thrown in a glass. The desserts were really flavoursome and just the right amount.
I chose a white chocolate and raspberry tart which which just the right balance or tart to sweet and my 6 year old son had the children's chocolate brownie which was a really good sized portion on an adults plate which he thought was excellent.
The decor is now bright and airy and such an improvement. Definitely recommend!

Went here for my birthday. It's a really nice place to visit for food & drink. There was an open fire, which is not often seen these days. The layout & decor work really well & it's a well maintained & clean pub (including the toilets).
The cocktails we ordered were well made & it appeared that the staff had almost as much fun making them as we did drinking them. The acid test for whether food was going to be any good was ordering the calamari for starters. It was absolutely delicious & succulent. The main courses were also very tasty. We didn't have to wait long but the pub was very quiet. I've been here before but not when it's been busy so can't comment on service during busy periods.
The staff were excellent & these days that counts for a lot. Derek (& especially Leah) deserve pay rises. I'll definitely go back.

There's a customer access ramp for folks with mobility issues. The pub is quite difficult to get to (as at November 2022) due to major roadworks that are ongoing.

We visited for a family meal on Sunday as a table of 10. We were served quickly and the food was absolutely lovely - if you have the Sunday roast, definitely get the trio so you can try it all.

We were looked after by Katie as our main waitress and Derek also looked after us when running food. Both of them couldn’t do enough for us. Despite being extremely busy, Katie was so lovely and attentive. Derek was also very cheerful.

Overall, a lovely pub with a great experience.
