A decent traditional British pub in the heart of East London. The regular are mostly locals. If I imagined an actual real pub from Eastenders, the Salmon & Ball wold probably be right up there.

In interiors are pretty conventional for a traditional British pub. A mixture of tables and stools to sit around the central bar. There's I think 2 screens showing whatever sport is most relevant for the day i.e. football on a Saturday. No big screen though.

The Salmon and Ball (what is that rhyming slang for?) is a proper in your face, Bethnal Green Boozer! Loud, sporty and male dominated. Ladies, don't let this put you off, these are good lads. Respect for everyone is here (except real ale drinkers because there is no cask ale!). A fantastic boozer in the East end, not to all tastes but, a gem.

You can stand and wait to be served for 5 mins while the landlord talks to his mates. The landlord displayed a dislike for young people. He does not like providing customers with water. The toilets are dirty. A pub in a perfect location that could be so much better.

A place to be avoided at any cost, the most abrasive staff in the world.

I entered the place with a friend to buy drinks and the owner or manager (couldn't tell who it was, since was a John Doe in flip-flops and shorts) shouted with me at the door, saying that I couldn't come inside because I didn't bought the drink I had on a plastic glass on his pub. Trashy hospitality and unnecessary public embarassment, once everybody was looking at me as if I was a criminal, just for having a drink on my hands.

As for John Doe in charge, must be someone who doesn't know what sales potential is or lives in the mindset of his usual costumers, classic and sad east london bar flies, grunting with football and bad music.

This is another nice bar, the staff are very friendly and are up for a laugh and a joke.when there isn't any sports on the TV they play some great music the local are very friendly and there are a few characters that get in there but it's a bar I would highly recommend if your in the area.
