The Angel Inn is a solid traditional pub in Lichfield city centre, affiliated with Joule's Brewing. The company's beers are advertised in many different forms all over the pub and; unsurprisingly, almost all of the beers on tap are from that same brewer (Joule's Pale Ale, Slumbering Monk, Pre Blonde, etc). The décor is very familiar (all dark wood, intentionally kept rustic). The medium-sized pub is divided into several different niches, and there's a small smoking/vaping area to the side. It's very appealing if you dig this traditional style. The barman on my visit was friendly enough, the beer I chose (Ludlow's The Boiling Well) was fresh and tasty. Nothing truly special about The Angel Inn, but it's certainly a fine place to hang out for a couple of pints if you want to avoid more modern brew pubs like the nearby Brewhouse & Kitchen.

Like all Joules pubs this pub is fantastically appointed but the beer was unforgivable. Both the Pale Ale (one of my favourite beers) and the Blonde had gone off and should not have been served. Staff were happy to replace but it shouldn't take three pints to get one drinkable. The glassware wasn't all that clean either. A real shame

Joules brewery pub, with a small sample of their range. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

The staff were lovely and appeared happy in their jobs and to serve you. The atmosphere was pitched at judy the right amount with the open mic that played just right in the background without overpowering your ability to hold a conversation with your company. The environment was clean, comfortable, spacious and welcoming. I would definitely drink here again and was so good that we returned there straight after our visit to the cathedral for a second session.

Larger than it looks from the outside. A little gem of a pub selling an eclectic selection of beers and cider, as well as gins, etc. Snacks available at the bar as well.
Some nice little booths which afford a little privacy.

Much like the Cooper's Tavern in Burton, this is an immaculate real ale pub. Fantastic choice of well kept ale. Proper pub food options. Sympathetic, traditional interior. A quiet Tuesday night, the young lads on the bar were very helpful, not fiddling with their mobiles, ensuring the pub looks well cared for. Joules Brewery clearly know how to run a decent boozer. Visiting Lichfield, like decent pubs and great ales? Look no further....

Beautiful pub in the centre of Lichfield. Deservedly busy with a lovely pint on tap.
