Popped in here in the way back from the National Arboretum - it was 5om on a Thursday. Staff very welcoming - excellent menu choices. Mom & bestie had Shepherds Pie and fresh veg which was apparently fab - I had three sausages (Welsh Dragon, Cumberland & pork) which were lush. Hot and delicious - definitely visiting here again

Came here on a late Saturday afternoon. We loved sitting outside in the beer garden where there is small playground for the kids. Our food was all home cooked and amazing.

Room for improvement.

Historically this pub has always defined "how it's done". However, it's changed hand a few times in the last few years. I went in the daytime midweek for a private function last week and although the staff knew their job it wasn't the best.

We were in the bar, reserved for us which was kind but we were greeted by a sheet of A4 stuck to the door jamb written in biro. Never mind, at least it's reserved hey?

The tables were dirty and not cleaned from the previous night showing debris and ring marks from the glasses. There is also a shelf beneath the bar which was littered with rubbish and cast off straws. These should have been cleaned away before opening - private function or not these are basics.

The pub has had a recent refurbishment but it is lacklustre and there are patches of bare wall behind the bar which naturally draws the eye.

Being the only party in the venue you would expect there to be staff available to look after you, but the whole entourage was kept waiting as bar staff were not on hand throughout and we did have to wait a while to be served despite the bill being set up on a tab.

Music was by a local musician who was excellent. Beer was particularly good so a thumbs up there.

Overall not a bad experience but lacking in the basics and the details. I would go back and hope they get to grips with what it takes to deliver a solid customer experience. 3/5.

Visited for the first time today after a 10 mile walk. It's lovely and cosy inside and service was quick.

The highlight for me though was the sticky toffee pudding. Best I've ever had. Felt like I was going to ascend.

We visited tonight and ordered hunters chicken & chips and fish & chips. The service was fast, friendly and not rushed. The food came out in good time, was hot and plenty on the plate. The desserts are on a board with lots of choice for everyone. We were able to enjoy our food with background music at just the right level for us to hear and hold a conversation at the same time without raised voices. All in all a really good night with no problems at all 🙂

Me and my girlfriend came here yesterday for food. Both our meals were delicious and had fantastic flavours homemade in the house. The staff were friendly and helpful plus you worked really hard even in the Christmas busy period. I had one of the best Christmas dinners I had in a very long time.

We lunched here a few weeks ago 2 of us and a teenager. The service is brilliant we were greeted by Fiona and Izzy who were really friendly . Service was quick and food lovely and really good value for money. We were brought our food by Paula who was equally as friendly so all round a nice lunchtime venue . This really is customer service at its best

Came for lunch and the service was great. Had a fish finger sandwhich which was unreal, proper battered cod bites. Who I was with had the ham sandwhich on bloomer bread and it was also great. Thick slices of bread. Great value for money will definitely be returning
