Ordered the full monty mixed grill and classic chicken New Yorker for my parents and they had to take them both back and remake the meals as not only where chicken Luke warm/cold on both plates but gammon on the mixed grill was also luke warm once they had a freshly cooked meal it was enjoyable but it’s a shame about the hassle of having to wait again for another meal to be cook and everyone else at the table was nearly finished when they where just starting again 😐

All round a nice place, except you have to get water from this jug across the room, tastes weird and it's not filled up all the time. Food is decent though.

Not a great place for us We were very disappointed with the service and the meal and the state of the dining room floor was not clean lots of food. The cutlery was not clean and some food on our plate that we didn't recognize

Not a planned visit but so glad we did! The food was fab and actually of better quality than we're used too from Hungry Horse. Clearly take pride in their food. No bullet garden pea's or dried out jacket potatoes today! Staff were lovely and friendly and couldn't do enough to make sure customers were happy.

The staff were great but there was hardly any food stock available when we arrived so the menu was extremely limited.

Very slow service and then cold food. Felt forgotten about too. Quite unfortunate because had a few visits that were really good over the past few years. I’ve heard there’s new management so maybe that’s why.

CHEAP, BUT NOT CHEERFUL: Poor. Rude, lazy bar-staff who give a good impression of not wanting to be there, unembarrassed to leave customers standing waiting 20 minutes (and more) to get served. The pub appears to have changed hands. The Rowing Machine previously had efficient and pleasant staff, who were pleased to see customers (and vice versa), who cared about creating a good atmosphere and providing good service, so that the shabby look of the place really didn’t matter. Wow – complete opposite now (12 Nov 2022). Sour-faced staff dawdle about like zombies, avoiding eye-contact with customers so as to avoid working. Elderly bald man with attitude problem and glasses perched on his head made customers feel he was doing them a favour if he got around to serving before they gave up and left – as we did. We shan’t be back, and (unless you're looking for a masterclass in how not to run a pub) recommend you travel just a little further to find the far better, far more pleasant pubs in the town-centre.

Place is absolutely filthy. We walked in there ready to eat, the smell of damp & cigarettes hit you in the face. upon pulling out the leather chair to sit on, the entire thing was ripped, so I swapped it with a “red” chair which was turning grey from discolouration because it’s so dirty. Looking at the wall next to our table, it looked like someone had emptied their bladder all over it. We didn’t bother even looking at the menu, we upped & left for somewhere that’s actually clean to eat at. 🤢 Bad first experience. Sort that stuff out!
