I’ve never left a review before but I had too after my experience on the 13/03/22. My husband and his parents and I went to this pub expecting a carvery after seeing the shockingly good reviews. Walk in and the place is a state. The “carvery” was on 2 stained and derelict tables on wheels. Asked what meat they had and it was only chicken or beef. The cook reassured me the beef was “really nice”. Was it heck. Stone cold. The gravy was hot but lumpy as anything. The potatoes weren’t fresh potatoes they were oven potatoes that you could get in Tesco for a bag for £2. And when cut into it, was cold in the middle. The veg was lukewarm as well. And no seasoning on ANYTHING. Not going back there again and I’m honestly really surprised that people actually enjoy it.

I can't rate this pub highly enough. The warmest welcome, delicious home cooked food (lasagne and steak & ale pie were especially good) and ran by such lovely people 🏆 there's even a playground outside 🥳 thanks guys. Hope to come back x

This little pub is wonderful, has nice beer garden with play area, nice quant old fashioned feel and friendly barman but sadly their food is diabolical. Ordered lunch and they couldn't get the simple things right. Had worse coleslaw every!!! literally 80% grated(more like long shredded) carrot with 4 chunks of onion yes I counted few bits of lettuce all mixed in mayo not a piece of cabbage in sight this was served on a lukewarm jacket potato with simple side salad. Hubbie had prawn baguette but we were not convinced the bread had seen an oven it was stoddgy and SOOO pale.
The friendly barman was sitting having his lunch so we choose to just leave and sadly won't return for food. I think if they get it right could be simple little regular place to eat.

Having read the reviews pushing aside the negatives we went .The place was clean and tidy not like some reviews the staff very helpful honest and friendly .On ordering drinks and food the 6 of us sat and took in the ambience of this quaint village pub the food we had ordered. The steak and ale pie with thick homemade pastry was to die for the batter on the fish golden and crispy we sat and met Sharon the cook outside and complimented her and the establishment in general .She was highly delighted that we had took time out to talk to her. Personally read the reviews not all negatives are what they seem and make your own minds up we did and were still talking about our enjoyable experience on our way home to Yorkshire. Compliments to the team hope to be back if we are down that region .

What a great pub! Friendly, good beer and a fantastic beer garden. On every second Monday in the month there are accordion
players!
If you are on a boat this is well with the short walk up from the lock, through the pretty village. Recommended

Great pub! Although my 21-year-old friend got ID'd. Still good though - lovely pub garden.

Went to the Barley Mow public house today for the Sunday Lunch. Fantastic meal with three choices of meat and lots of different veg. The staff were excellent and very welcoming. I had my two year old grandson with me and they couldn’t of been better with him. Thank you to all the team and we as a family will be attending again
