Warm and friendly pub. Food is good, home cooked with big portions and very reasonably priced. If I was to be critical, personally I would have preferred a smaller portion, but tastier, chips than were served. The syrup sponge pudding and custard was lovely!

Popped in last night for some food.
Caroline & Phil were outstanding hosts (as they always are).
The Ale (Dartmoor Legend) was wonderful but the highlight was the homemade Steak & Ale Pie (with Mash of course). Caroline’s pet hate is a bad pie ;-)

If you want a proper pub (not many like these left) please take my heed and pay a visit :-)

Contrary to hours shown on Google maps, doesn't open midweek lunchtimes. Discovered this after 2 hour walk from Teignmouth to enjoy our first ever visit.

This pub only operates part time hours and frequently closed in the daytime. Meals stop at 8pm. Went in for a drink one evening and bar lady very unfriendly. Attempted to make conversation and just met with a blank. Seemed to only be a handful of locals in the pub and quite empty. Did not get a friendly vibe at all. And when i left, nobody said goodnight as they usually do in other pubs. If a pleasant experience I would have gone back for a meal another time. A couple of days later ended up speaking to a local in Luton the next voillage and she mentioned The Elizabethan and said don't go to The Royal Oak. When I asked why and said I had, she immediatelky said I bet they were not welcoming. She had moved in a couple of years back and visited and said they were quite hostile to her and her husband. Apparently you have to have been born in Ideford and they do not like outsiders. Seems they are not interested in any extra trade., Would never go again.

My wife & I spent 3 very pleasant evenings here recently.
The landlord & landlady as well as the local were very welcoming & friendly.
The food is excellent & plentiful. If we are ever in the area again I will have no hesitation in dropping by for some local brew & a hearty meal. 10/10

Lovely cozy pub. We stayed in a campsite a mile down the road and walked there every night. The two owners are friendly and welcoming and served amazing, well priced food. THEY NOW ACCEPT CARD as of a couple of months ago. Handy as no idea where to get cash.
