We've stopped here a couple of times whilst cycling the Gospel pass. Great straight up pub food at honest prices. They serve a lovely pint of Butty Bach too. 🍺

Lovely, welcoming hosts. Good bar and rustic, simple but very tasty and generous food.
Great pub and place to get your head down.

So we turned up here on our bikes about 3pm on a Monday. The door was open. One minute later after we locked our bikes the door was closed and the closed sign was in the window. The person working had clearly seen us. As he let someone out of the pub he clearly saw us again. He never said anything to us. I understand that he might not want to serve us at 3pm but have the decency to say so. Just rude really. If you are cycling this route and the Queens Head is open, I recommend you stop there. It might help if the owner could advertise its opening times on google, what pub etc.

At approx 2 00 pm on Sat 13th Aug ordered 2 dishes of egg chips and peas along with drinks to be served in the Garden, approx 25/30 mins later the dishes were brought to the table minus the peas which had been paid for, on query the chef said that he had. not been told. On requesting condiments was told to go and get them yourself. Never in a life time had we ever been treated with that lack of service.
On leaving the garden on the way through the lounge an unmarked step provided a trip where my companion fell flat on her face damaging her nose to which the management were unable to provide any assistance other than a cloth filled with ice cubes.
Appalling standard of service means we will never visit this location ever again

I always check Google maps first before making my way to a country pub to see if they have wifi so I can call family and friend so they know I'm safe etc. Seeing this place had the tick for free WiFi on Google I make my way to the pub only to see a sign saying "no public WiFi
We pride ourselves on encouraging you to talk to your travel mates"

Thanks....can you pleas in tick it to stop wasting people's time

Tried to call up to book a table. Was told (in an unpleasant tone) that it’s not possible to book. When I asked how likely it would be for 3 people to get a table at 6:30pm, the response I got ‘well how long is a piece of string’ and ‘I have no idea how busy it will be.’ I understand it’s not possible to book and that it may be difficult to judge these things, but I’d have taken the chance if the person was just friendly and polite. As it happens I was left feeling like I’d made an outrageous request and as a result will definitely not be coming. Might be an idea to possibly try to be helpful and/or friendly if you want to bring in new customers.

Very pleased to find the Half Moon open for a couple of drinks at the end of a long walk. Good real ale, a warming mulled cider, warm and cosy by the fire, friendly welcome… perfect!
