The Bell Hanger - JD Wetherspoon

Always like pop by this pub, they are always welcoming and helpful. I used to bring service users here for food, and they were amazing staff. I got say best apple crumble I tasted 😋 and worth the trip. Parking close by .though it luck of draw as can be busy. Other food has been good here, too. It can get busy here but always manage to find a table. Locals are welcome bunch .so feel right at home. Good energy .

This is a lovely Wetherspoons, let down by under staffing. Slow service and lukewarm food if you are unlucky enough to order the quicker of the two meals on a table.

A sudden drop in standards. Food is normally very good, but not during our last visit. It was luke warm and greasy. Nobody filled the sauces tray (little things matter). We ordered via the app but our food came before our drunks. I had to leave my food to go to the bar. I had an apology but my drinks had already been poured but just left behind the bar! What's the point of table service if you have to take matters into your own hands?. As I said, it is normally lovely here with no issues previously. I will give them another go in the hope this was a blip.

Nice Spoons this one. Right in the centre of Chepstow. Only Minus was no parking at all. Was clean and tidy. And the place seemed friendly. Bar staff were quick and helpful. Drinks as usual were amazing value with loads of selection. Didn’t try the food but there seemed to be plenty of selection. All in all I would say if your on budget for a quick pint and some food, this is the place to head for.

It’s been a couple of years since we were there. And I forgot … I had to send my wife to the bar so she had to ask for the receipt to prove we ordered sauce with both mixed grills.

It was a quiet Saturday afternoon and the food arrived really fast, one of the water was not sparkling as ordered, didn’t say anything. But my wife wanted her sauce.

“Kitchen said there was only one sauce, can you show me your receipt?” Waiters don’t read orders and question customers for a £1.45 sauce which is basically powder and boiling water?

It finally came later when her plate was cold.

And oddly enough nobody came to ask if “everything was all right”.

Guess who didn’t have dessert there :)
Boom one star.

Nice venue, very modern and large with plenty of TV’s.
It was quite busy, same tables needed clearing, staff were friendly despite being rush off their feet.
The food is nice and tasty and very reasonably price.
So what’s not to love about a Wetherspoons!!

Back again in Jan 2023, always a good pub.
Great Witherspoons pub, with food from breakfast, lunch, Aberdean Agnes Steak. Sat here with my children for afternoon burger and chips.
Another shot here with Rock in the Castle, the end of the Sumner shows. The pub is packed with cover band Tshirts. Clean, tidy, screens everywhere, shame they we all never applied this style of anti social gathering years ago.Rock on Chepstow.

I had a 3oz burger. Firstly I wish I'd read the menu properly because it comes with a brioche bun. I don't know why anyone would like a sweet bun with it. Secondly the burger was only just warm in places and very cool in others and the chips although very tasty weren't very hot. Thirdly I had a raspberry lemonade which came in a can. I wasn't given a glass to drink it out of. Finally the bar staff were quite slow at serving. My friends and I have been here before but won't be going back.
