Lovely local pub with welcoming friendly and very helpful staff. I chose it as a dog friendly pub with food as I'm camping nearby. The homemade pie was delicious! The local gents were in as football was on but as a single female I didn't feel intimidated at all. They were indeed gentlemen.
Recommend it to anyone who wants good food with the locals.

It has a great communal and welcoming feeling, I only ate there but the food was reasonably priced and tasted great! it's a lovely, welcoming and warm pub to visit and everybody is very friendly.

This is one of those special, secret places the locals don't tell you about. Ignore the main menu. Pick a delicious pie from the specials board. I had a steak pie filled with rich gravey and a perfectly-poured pint of cider on a quiet Sunday. At least four or five amazingly good and varied vegetarian options; my wife had a three-cheese, potato and mushroom pie served with peas and a generous portion of well-prepared, "proper" chips.

Excellent pub, friendly welcome from all the staff. Their knowledge of the local area was fantastic and we were delighted to find such a fabulous watering hole after a beautiful meander through some of this area’s ancient industrial past. One special attraction was the book area where you could pick up a book by the fire and relax.
We would definitely recommend and will visit again when in the area. Friends from Cardiff - look forward to seeing you again!
