Top notch pub food and a very good selection of drinks. Lovely setting in the main square and very comfortable inside.

Varied menu for a pub with some decent lunch specials. Friendly staff and a small but excellent selection of Welsh beers and cider.

Had lunch at The Golden Lion today. They have a lunchtime menu which is good value. Two courses for £10 or three for £13. We had a main course and dessert.
Good vegetarian selection and good sized portions. We were well and truly stuffed afterwards. Good coffee too.
Nice relaxed atmosphere and clean and tidy toilets, always a plus point.

A fairly nice village pub-cum-restaurant, clean and presentable decor and furnishings with a mix of modern and classic features, from the ancient fireplace to the fruit machines.
Not overly spacious, but a decent size, sporting 3 areas: restaurant, bar and sports bar. There is also a beer garden and events room (for hire).
They do allow dogs in the pub, but I am personally not an advocate of that, being allergic and also from a hygiene perspective due to food and such being consumed and served in that area.
Be prepared for a decent wait for your drinks at the bar. Due to the bar staff having to spread themselves between the sports bar and the regular bar, and often times the sports bar takes most of their attention, it can take upwards of 15 mins to get served.
Other than those two downsides, the food is very tasty, the drinks are as you'd expect. Staff are friendly enough, and allow for good atmosphere.
I believe live music is occasionally played here, which can attract a good crowd.
If you're looking for a nice, relaxed evening, you could do worse. Price wise, it's not too shabby. As you would come to expect from a pub in the 2020's.

Been twice now and great experience on both occasions. Today they opened the kitchen early for us after we had travelled a long way and were very hungry. Lovely, above and beyond service. Will always return for good homecooked pub grub!

First visit hope to go again, excellent food and service. Great setting, my idea of a typical venue.

We booked the Golden Lion for Xmas Day Dinner for 5, our first meal out for Xmas day.
We arrived around 12.45 for a 1.15 booking and were greeted with a bottle of Prosecco & immediately seated.
Kelly the Chef came to speak to my son about his nut allergy and reassured him he was in safe hands which was fantastic as he can be extremely nervous about eating out.
The starters came promptly & were lovely along with an ‘off the menu’ cheesy garlic bread made especially for our son.
The main Xmas dinner then came out with all the trimmings & was huge - we were stuffed!
The deserts we chose ranged from Xmas pudding to cheese cake, followed by a cheese board & port.
This was followed with the offer of coffee and mince pies which we passed on because we were so full.

Overall, we had a fantastic experience that deserves a 5 star review.
We would definitely recommend & look forward to returning in the future.
