As nice as it is and for 17 pounds for a day pass to the pool, be warned they hold baby swim lessons for almost the entire day (well Sunday at least) Not only does this mean half the pool is restricted it also means you have an incredbily loud instructor bellowing and singing for each eternal lesson. Not a relaxing environment. Memebership also seems to include a lot of kids as well.
I unfortunately had to cancel my membership due to a change in financial circumstances. This was a long task to get sorted but eventually agreed upon.
I was grateful they sorted this and fully intended on signing back up when things picked up.
Today I received a call on a debt collection agency claiming my membership was not cancelled. I have not even received a call from Village gyms previously to this.
For a company that publicly sponsor high profile boxing events and say they care about wellbeing to do this is hypocrisy in the highest degree.
Disgraceful
Update
Since responding to my review no effort has been made to get in touch with me despite having my contact details that where passed on by themselves to a debt collection agency.
Furthermore showing that as long as it looks like they are doing the right thing to the public they care very little about the further mental torment they put on their former customers.
Also I've used the benefits (25%) off in the pub.
All of my interactions with staff have been great, even prior to signing up - top marks for customer service - they're super friendly and create a generally great vibe. Never pushy. No elitism. Will bend over backwards to help you.
I think it's fair to say that other customers account for most of the atmosphere in any gym, and so far I haven't had any negative interactions. Most people are just there to do their own thing. I don't get a toxic masculinity vibe from this gym and a large part of that probably comes down to the gender split - if I had to guess, I'd say 60:40 men to female. My last gym was nearer 90:10.
All of the equipment is in pretty good condition. I'd swear most of it is brand new. It's well maintained. Everything integrates seamlessly with the Mywellness app.
The whole place is spotless.
The classes are awesome - definitely give those a try, even if it's not your thing. I didn't think I'd like them, but they're amazing, there are plenty to choose from, and they're free!
You get a few hours free parking on weekdays and it's free all day on the weekends. I've always found a space, even when it's busiest - and bear in mind the parking is shared with the hotel, a restaurant, business lounge and Starbucks.
If I had to give any cons, I'd say that the changing rooms/toilets/showers don't feel as high quality/premium as the rest of the facility, but then again, they give you what you need. My girlfriend informs me that the facilities for women are really nice.
This is without a doubt the best gym I've been to. Worth every penny. Again, hats off to the amazing staff.
Friendly and helpful reception ladies :)
