Fantastic Club! Great facilities, love the clean pools and friendly staff. Have been attending Acton for a while now and it is my favourite club. The class times are very good, they always suit my schedule (before, after work or lunchtime). Lots of variety!

Very disappointed for a premium place.
The car park is a generally full and always filthy. Floors are dirty, especially the family area which is always dirty .
Water in the pools is murky and very dirty and the changing rooms are always a mess.
The restaurant is getting worse every day, have to go the bar and chase my orders. Very unorganised, it looks like chaos when busy and they don't seem to know what are they doing. The menu is more expensive then the other clubs, why ??? and even the management doesn't explain that.
The management actually is very rude and the General Manager doesn't really care when you mention any of the above. We have to accept it or leave the club.
So I'm doing so.

Gym facilities are good. Staff are great. The heated outdoor pool and spa make the place stand out. However, the real hidden gem is the general manager who goes over and beyond to ensure costumer gratification and her positive energy resonates throughout the gym when she is there.

The issue with this club is management. There’s absolutely zero management engagement with the members. If you have even the smallest issue/query and would like to discuss it at the club you are asked to put your request through the app and somebody will call you within 7 days. I find it unbelievable that a club at this level can operate this way and that members seem to accept it. If you try and call the club to speak to somebody it simply rings out. I’ve never witnessed a member of the management team talking to a club member let alone resolving a problem.

I have been a member for 9 months now, before joining I did a lot of research into the gym as I wanted to find out if it would be worth it considering the price. I must say I am so glad I joined. It is pricey as a gym however it is a lot more than a gym and offers so much more than your usual fitness place. Overall I love it! There is so much to choose from that I never get bored and always motivated to go. The classes are great and the instructor are all really experienced and guide you through each class in the most wonderful way. They all seem genuinely doing their best. The pools are amazing, even though I mainly use the indoor one as I find the outdoor water way too cold for me. But nice to have the options in summer. The fitness area has any machine and free weight your could possibly think of. And the SPA area is really really relaxing, it gets busy but I never found it impossible. The cafe area is very pleasant, ideal to just chill after a session. There are plenty of social activities and we did go to a couple as a family which we really enjoyed. There is a nice play area for children which is quite handy, however the inflatable/ bouncy pillow has been broken for a while and I hope it will be repaired soon. What I also like is the car park, as in my previous gym I had to get into a busy mall car park and had to find a space each time and often had to go onto several floors...very stressful. You do need to look for a space at times however there is always a spot. Overall this is an amazing place to reset and recharge for me. It does come at a price however I think its good value for money considering what you get.

As much as I want to really enjoy this club and relish visiting I cant. I pay £194 p/month and can never get a tennis court in an evening or weekend. I joined this club to primarily play tennis and this a battle and a stress to play. The only reason they don’t cover the 4 clay courts with an inside dome is due to cost or potential laziness, either reason is unacceptable. Every other David Lloyd I go to I enjoy and there is abundance of inside courts. If there was an alternative club in the area, I would cancel my membership as soon as possible. Unfortunately they have the monopoly and clearly know it with the arrogant nature they show their members. The club/changing rooms are filthy, smelly and the club is clearly over-subscribed. There is no emphasis on a premium experience anywhere in the clubhouse and you are treated with contempt if you attempt to raise any concerns. There is no one to talk to or discuss any issues with.

Is this place worth £200 joining fee + £209 per month? Absolutely no way. It baffles me why people accept these exorbitant costs. The club is slightly grubby and slimey with kiddie crumbs on the floor. The lockers look old and you need to bring your own padlock. There were an overly high number of class cancellations whilst i was there and i rarely saw a staff member on the gym floor to help me with the machines. Basically for a premium priced gym i expected to be treated like royalty and i really wasn't. Also there is a cold, older blonde female receptionist who is rude and you can tell she wishes she was anywhere but the Acton branch of the club. It's highly amusing.

UPDATING: We have informed Citizens Advice of our issue with David Lloyds Leisure, and CA have then informed Trading Standards of our information.
The reason: failing to send us our contract, which legally we are allowed to ask for, so that we understand the notice period we agreed to "at the time we signed the contract" (not online as these might have changed since, or be different than what's in our contract), as we decided to cancel our membership. As we have had no response, after 2 months we had to cancel our direct debit. After DOZENS of emails that went unanswered - they finally emailed back saying they do NOT have a copy of our contract. And surprisingly (or actually unsurprisingly as their level of customer service has been shockingly poor), sent us to ARC Europe who then threatened us with court proceedings. For what? To "hold us" to a contract that you don't have?

I REPEAT: if our contract says we owe them money, we will of course pay. But we need to know and understand what we owe them before paying them. They are free to call me to discuss if they want as we do want this matter resolved. Which I doubt they will as they have showed zero interest in this thus far.
