The complex has decent facilities, but the fitness suite can get busy. It's not full of meat heads like some gyms but it certainly doesn't have a sociable atmosphere. It's cheap and cheerful, but the facilities are due an upgrade.

I've never seen the staff cleaning the equipment and few people wipe down after use. The induction was very brief and cleanliness should be emphasised more.

The showers are great, hot, clean, and have a decent flow! But the changing rooms can get dirty especially when there are sport events. The venue would benefit from having a couple of full time cleaners, or by asking fitness suite staff to clean equipment regularly.

So... Cheap (for Durham) decent gym, but no classes and sometimes slightly unclean!

So, the actual "gym" area is cramped, really, really stupidly cramped. it's so tiny, that anymore than 8 people in there feels like you're going to suffocate.
The machines are too close together and it makes it awkward to walk around and work out.
It's also pretty filthy, it has carpeted floors which look discolored and grim.
It's equipment is pretty limited too, and no space to do any floor exercises.
No singes of a changing room for people who just use the gym area, and the lockers out side are utterly useless.

Very basic but very affordable. You can pay on a month by month basis so no tie ins. Don't expect the latest machines in a pristine environment - if that what you're after then pay the extra at the other gyms in the city. But, if you're looking for a range of equipment that will do the job at the right price, then this is a great option. The negatives: the lockers are a bit dodgy and the opening times could do with being longer.

There is a renewed 400m-running track with two long jump sand pits and two shot put stations. The gym on the entrance floor is great, but you only get access if you're a member of a sport club. Next to the changing rooms are even two ice machines with three bath tops. It is a great place to train and recover. The actual small fitness suite is on the second floor.

Great place, excellent gym to work out at with lots of machines but I have to say that when students get back from holidays, the gym is so full that sometimes you have to wait around or try find other exercises, whereas in the holidays, there are a lot of machines or equipment's available and in the area where people do arms and chests, there's only 4 seats but in general when it gets too busy, almost every machine is full and no where to actually work out, sometimes you have to find room but the arms and chest and legs areas are so full during term time and feels too crowded but a great place to work out if it's not during term time or when students are out for the holidays.

Cheers on keeping students into debt, your courses are a joke and students do not get any assistance, just go to other universities that do sports than this one, the certificates do not get recognised enough and require work experience than being a door opener.

100k to £500k of debt to anyone intrested on intrest rates and how much this uni is, just overpriced gym membership lmao!
