I'd highly recommend City Athletic. Historically I've changed gyms for a fresh perspective every couple of years but this is the first I can safely say I'm going to stick with. Definitely give it a go if you're considering it.
The staff are amazing, really helpful, really friendly and they are always ask how you are. The atmosphere in there is absolutely jumping really positive and I have had the best workouts that I have ever had in there.
Finally I highly recommend the protein coffee there too!
Also sits below a Sweatshop (for training shoes), Perfect Balance clinic - both of which have been very useful at different times.
Thoroughly recommend.
I personally love the vibe of the gym from the front of house team, personal trainers and members. It is the little personal touches that make City Athletic far superior to other gyms. They have actually built a community of members who engage and train with each other.
The staff know my routine, educate me and are always a great source of support and inspiration. The locker room and gym is always immaculately clean and the high quality of personal trainers available is excellent.
If you want to train in a gym that leaves ego's at the door, helps you get results and has you excited and motivated to return, then join City Athletic!
It is not a massive gym but I think they cap the membership to make sure it never gets too busy - I train before work and lunchtimes and can always do my program without have to wait for a free squat rack etc.
Classes are 30 mins so ideal for lunch breaks and there are normally only 4-5 people per class which means the instructors can make sure everyone is getting the most out of the session, whatever their fitness level.
Most importantly for me, it's a great atmosphere to train and that's down to the instructors and PTs who are great people and genuinely happy to give you their time and advice when you need it. If you're ever trying something new there will be someone to help. Strength and fitness-wise I am a different person to the one who joined a few years ago and I owe a huge part of that to CA.
I've been a member of local leisure centres and also big corporate gyms in London with all the bells and whistles. My experience of City Athletic is that it has the best from these two opposing styles of gym.
It has the friendly "local" feeling of somewhere like a leisure centre, but with all the expertise and equipment you might find at the gyms that charge extortionately. In fact, I would go further and say the credentials that are demonstrated by the staff at City Athletic are second to none.
Also, it's in an amazing location for me and I can never believe how quiet the gym is.
Highly recommended.
I just can’t see why someone would pay that amount of money when there are a lot bigger gyms with better equipment in the area for less. Not sure how they even get people to sign up, unless they are like me, who just moved to London and had no idea what’s up in the area.
