DW Fitness First Merthyr Tydfil

It's a brilliant gym, staff are friendly and will go beyond to help you! Wide variety of classes available, various equipment & spacious pool side facilities! This gym needs to be seen, to see what we have compared to other gyms. Can even try out a guest pass if you have never been here before to try it for yourself. We try 100% to keep our members happy but we have things happen beyond our control.

But come down and see us! And I promise there will be a smile greeting you at the door!

This was a change of scenery me and a training partner are used to but it was nice overall, staff where so friendly and helpful. The equipment was well looked after and the gym itself was clean as could be at peak time, also enjoyed using some equipment we weren't actually training part of that day. Legday was fun and we smashed it. Legpress can hold 550kg quite easy and it's comfortable to do so! Also the squats where great fun especially feeling so safe inside them managing. 200 kg squat for a few reps just to see how safe I felt and I will be coming back. 😀 Sorry for lack of pictures I was too busy training haha.

Nice clean store. Sells everything from discounted trainers to brand new football shirts. Very large store, situated on top of the department gym. Can be problematic to park outside at busy times.

Only thing I don't like is the lingering smell of chlorine from the gym when you walk in, makes me feel a little sick.

Terrible Gym! just had a "refit"....but instead of doing any actual improvements, they just took away machine and ....yeah....guess what....you still have to pay the same amount!!!!!!! There is nothing in the contract to protect you the user. They can take away whatever they want whenever they want...I would highly recommend NOT JOINING!!!! As soon as my contract is up I will be leaving.....wish I NEVER JOINED!!

Nice gym with very helpful staff. 3 day pass followed by a join up, done easily.
Decent sized sauna and pool. Lockers take a pound coin. At peak times it's not been too crazy either. Could do with a dedicated pull up/functional rack.

Great experience at Merthyr DW since it opened. Still greeted in a lovely manner by the staff .Temperature taken ,and hand sanitizer to use as you entered and around the gym. I only used the swimming pool.and changing area, it wasnt too full and there was a pleasant atmosphere .Well done Dw.

This place may well have all the standard stuff but I think it's great. Being in a retail Park there's always plenty of space to park. Pre-lockdown there were lots of classes to book on and hopefully they'll gradually come back in as restrictions ease.

That was written just before it got taken over by a Sports Direct company so let's see how this goes...

Shopping in Sports Direct for football boots and tops now that we can finally play again! Boot selection for astro turf was limited, but found some that fit and were on sale. Not crowded and plenty of sanitiser around if you wanted it. Staff were very helpful.
