Their accountant expertise proved invaluable, as although Im fairly knowledgeable , some unique suggestions and advice which Ive never come across before proved extremely profitable, and hence I definitely received great value for money and have consequently recommended First Choice to others, who like me, have encountered adverse experiences with previous accountants.
Now that Mark Harvey has retired and they've been taken over, they're every bit as unhelpful and I found Zuul, who seems to be the only one who ever replies to emails, to be downright rude.
I was told about the takeover when I rang up to organise my end of year tax return and was informed unceremoniously that I was no longer a client as first choice accountancy had been taken over. And as I was no longer a client they couldn't answer any of my queries about my tax issue - despite them having been my accountant for the past 7 years. They never wrote to clients in the post to inform them of this and are downright lucky they dont get closed down for their unprofessional attitude.
I then had to ask them to send me all my tax information they held so I could forward it to my new accountant and go through the hassle of switching.
I tried to make a complaint but was told as Mark Harvey has retired and the new business has nothing to do with First Choice - yeah right, that's why they're trading under the same name?! - that I couldn't make a complaint but could get historic details for First Choice through Companies House. Where, surprise surprise; it shows Mark Harvey still active as director.
Avoid these scammers like the PLAGUE! They'll charge through the roof yet give you no useful advice or support. Find yourself a decent London accountancy firm - these guys aren't it.
