A small church dating from 15th Century on the site where there was previously a church from about the 6th century. In 1859 a shipwreck, the Royal Charter sank near Moelfre, 400 people lost their lives and only 39 were saved with help of local villagers. The church was used as a mortuary and 140 were buried in this cemetery where there is a obelisk memorial.
A lovely little church in need of some tlc. A very small car park.

Steeped in history and we'll worth a visit. Brilliant walks nearby and good views of the Straits

This neat well maintained little church serves the village of Llanallgo on the East coast of Anglesey on the A5025 near Moelfre and is steeped in tragic history, being the final resting place of new fewer than 140 victims of the wreck of The Royal Charter on October 26th 1859 in a truly ferocious storm off Anglesey. The graveyard is well maintained and contains many memorials to this wreck. It is truly heartbreaking to see memorials to whole families who lost their lives together.
Historically, the church dates back from the 15th to the 20th century but it is worth noting that the ground upon which the church is built has had a church on it from the 6th or 7th Century making it one of the oldest Christian sites on all of Anglesey. I was not able to go inside the church on my visit. Ample dedicated car parking.

At the present time not open to the public. Maybe reopened after COVID. Memorial to unidentified shipwreck victims in graveyard
