The ancient woodland there existed for a very long time, even before people settled there!
Cycling, horse riding and fishing are not allowed there.
While enjoying our walks through this amazing woods, we came across the Scadbury Manor House, which can be seen from public footpath across the moat together with well and apple store.
Scadbury Manor forms part of an important medieval and post-medieval moated site.
It has been there since the 13th century but the brickwork that you will see there is from the house which was built in the 15th century for the rich and powerful Walsingham family.
Edmund Walsingham was Henry VIII's Lieutenant of the Tower of London and responsible for prisoners including Anne Boleyn, Sir Thomas More and Thomas Cromwell.
Today, the Manor site is owned by London Borough of Bromley. The Manor house on the island, the moat and the surrounding
land (including the footpath by the moat) are designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
The public footpath is well signed, so you won't get lost there.
It is definitely great place to come for walks with family and furry friends.
